When can you start booking for 2009?

Wanted to start saving/planning our August 2009 visit, but can't make ressies yet on Disney site...when is the earliest we can start booking?

Packages are announced in mid-August. However, room-only reservations can be booked 499 days in advance of your check-out
date, you'll pay a deposit based on one night's stay at current rates and have to top it up when the '09 room rates are announced.

Why the rush?? You'll have no problem booking next August if you wait till the packages are released. August does not book up that fast. Pricing should be available around mid August of this year...then at least you'll know what your dealing with price wise, and what kind of packages or changes there will be for next year.

Thanks...I figured it was August when the 09 rates would be announced, but just wanted to confirm it. And the rush? Start saving now...can make deposit to WDW, and then drop cash into the savings account as the week's go, so instead of dropping 2 or 3 large at once, its' in 50 or 100 increments...much less "pain" to the wallet. We have no credit cards, save a Visa check card tied to the savings account...keeps us out of trouble, spending money we don't have.

Our reason for booking early was to force us to go.We haven't gone since 2000. We always plan on it but then other things come up. Booking early made sure we stuck with the plan to go.

Right around this time last year is when we began planning our trip for this summer. It took us some time to narrow down budgets, dates and resorts. Packages com out in August. We waited to book until the package came out. We used the Disney site to give us ideas on pricing.

We called disney and got rates for what the exact same time this year would be, i know they wont be the same but it gave us an idea!
