Wheelchair hire

Why not rent a scooter from an outside vendor? Their cheaper and Apple will deliver it right to where your staying and pick it up there. Why push yourself and wait till you get tired, then its too late and you will already be hurting. Wheelchairs are hard to get around Disney. They do have inclines in the park. Have a great time whatever you decide.

i agree with poofie, i would get the motorized scooter if you can afford it.
two options, either rent in the park or from an outside vendor.
we usually get them in the parks- and to answer your original question- yes they are easy to get. you cannot get them until you are through the park gates (except at internatinal gateway at epcot) so it does slow you down with the rope drop rush- but ony a few minutes. wheelchairs are the same story.
we like to rent them in the park because then we don't have to transport them back and forth ourselves, as we always rent a car. but it is not a problem at all if you are taking busses. and it is indeed cheaper to rent off site.
if you do rent in the parks, the hotels have free wheelchairs for you to use while there. so we drop my 80+ year old parents off at the hotel door, and get the wheel chair from bell services, and wheel them up to the room. you can keep it in your room the whole time you are there. when we are leaving, we drop it off at bell services and they hold it for us until our return.
if you do not want to spend the extra, yes, wheelchairs are cheap and easy to get. just not easy to push all day as poofie said, the parks have lots of hills and a lot of ground to cover

Yes it is easy to rent a wheelchair at each park. When I had to rent one in 2005 I think they were $10 a day which was way cheaper than renting a scooter, even from an outside source. My husband and step-son took turns pushing me around and had no issues at any park. I could also easily push myself along when they were on a ride and I was wanting to wander a store or something. The wheelchair was also much easier to navigate the attraction vehicle entrances with, especially since I wasn't 100% disabled and could walk, just not for long periods of time like you. I would sometimes push it along myself, walking behind it, just to get up and move a little (something I couldn't do with a scooter obviously). We also only rented the chair on days when I felt I needed it vs. renting from an outside source for the entire week or whatever.

I'd say that if you a) have someone to push you, b) want to be able to occasionally get out of the chair and stretch your legs and c) want to save a buck, go with a normal push chair. Just my two cents. Nothing against scooters or outside rental places... just basing my opinion on what little you said. :)
