What's with MK closing at 10pm in June?

We're doing our summer trip in June from the 17th-26th and I've noticed with the exception of a single emh night at mk they're closing the park at 10pm? It just seems so early considering here in mid April they're open later than that. I know the days of MK staying open until like 2-3am are long gone but 10pm????

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Hours often get extended the closer it gets to your dates. We had several days MK got extended the day of on out last trip. They most likely will be extended. But also they may have a few nights with the paid Extra hours event added that has started at 10pm. They may be holding off extending hours until they decide if they will extend this new paid event into the summer so as to not cut back hours later. :)

Good point. I'd forgotten they're trying to do those paid emh events. Thanks

I posted this in bethymouse's thread. Just wondering what everyone's thought are.

"Hopefully we will see MK hours extended as we get closer to Summer. Although I can't help but wonder if shorter hours at MK aren't intended to force guests over to AK until we all get used to the park being open later. Probably just my suspicious mind but I think most moves made by Disney are calculated."

I doubt they will extend the hours, but they will be happy to extend the invitation for the After Hour party at $149 per person. WDW has no incentive to keep it open later for no additional revenue. If they can charge more for it, it would be worth it to stay open.

I think they're linked, but I think you have cause and effect backwards. I don't think Disney is trying to force people to go to DAK by shortening hours at the Magic Kingdom, but I think DAK being open later will have the natural effect of reducing the need for MK to be open as late.

People like to complain about the new after hours events, but with DAK's new park hours, there's actually a net increase in the amount of available park time.

The after hours events are only once a week right now. I highly doubt (not impossible but highly doubt) they will have it every single night that is showing being only open until 10pm in June. It has not even been that successful yet so they may not even keep doing it permanently.

But I had heard that the were "giving " away tickets at one point, because no one was buying them.?

I don't mind the somewhat earlier closing times. The less time people have to spend outdoors on hot Florida summer days the happier they can be the next day. Or at least one could hope, lol.

We live in FL and like to go in the morning, head back to the resort for the hot part of the afternoon to swim/chill/nap, do dinner, then go back to the park until closing.
