What's up with these park hours?!

So I'm headed to WDW in about 2 weeks... May 13th to 20th. I could've sworn after I booked my trip I looked at the hours and they were open relatively later... 10..11pm in general.

I'm a night owl and have been there in March when MK was open until 11 or 12 every night and had EMHs frequently; along with the other parks. Now I look today and on average MK closes at 9 or 10pm? Epcot at 7.. and DHS at 7pm??? It's not even dark by that time and that parks are closing. I understand this is the "lull" before summer vacations, but 7pm is pretty early. At least 9 for the 3 parks and nothing less than 10 or 11pm for MK. I'm pretty disappointed in these hours and feel like I'm being short changed. I would say I could go to PI due to the early closing, but.....

I guess it sucks - we just went in August 2008 and I assumed it would be open relatively late, but instead, everything was shut down before 9pm at night. Now this is almost worse.. I'd rather avoid summer time crowds and heat, but why such ridiculous hours? Has it always been like this or is this a part of the changes happening b/c of the economy?

Just out of curiosity, I looked. The times looked pretty normal to me for the time of year. As far as Epcot closing at 7pm, look a little more carefully at the calendar. World Showcase closes at 9pm, while Future World "closes" at 7pm - this has been the case for several years. Even though Future World is "closed", I think all but 1, maybe 2, of the attractions are still open.
Hope this eases a little of the confusion.

They adjust the hours based on expected crowds and attendance. It has been like this for years.

When attendance is lower, you can get more done in less time and you don't need to be in a park as long.

those hours aren't particularly uncommon for May. The only thing that has changed is DHS closing early on days when Fantasmic! isn't shown, but that's year-round now.
