Hey!
What's this Closed To Capacity stuff at water parks?

I heard you have to get there at the butt crack of dawn to get in. Is this true?

We are planning to go for a honeymoon in Sep-Oct timeframe, and we like to sleep in, and kind of roll between parks... maybe visit both water parks in one day.

Are we out of luck? I didn't realize they actually close people out! :brick:

You should be fine in September however getting to the water parks at opening is a good idea. They tend to get very crowded by noon no matter what time of year you go.

The water parks tend to hit capacity around warmer month holiday times and summertime especially on the weekends. You get many locals, school and company picnics occuring and the parks fill up pretty fast. When we go, we arrive around opening and stay 2-3 hours, by 11:30-12:00 PM it can get packed. You will hear them making announcements asking you to share your lawnchairs sometimes.

Bottom line is if it is around capacity, it is not much fun to be there-the lazy river is jammed, the wave pool is crowded and the lines for everything are long. You should be okay around September/Oct.

I can't imagine what the water parks are like at capacity. We've been there on days when it wasn't even close to capacity and the crowds were unpleasant. (Although sharing a beach chair could be fun with the right person.)

If oyu look at the history, it only happens at Easter and select days int eh summer. It's rare, so you'll be fine. EVen whent hey do close, they almost always reopen by 2:30pm.

We go in early May and late Sept/Oct every year. We hit a water park on our last day, after we've checked out of the hotel around noon. We have never experienced a crowd, or had any long lines at all. Last year though, we had a couple really wicked 15-20 minute lightening storms roll through that closed everything down til they were gone. I'd say that's the only thing you need to worry about.
You can easily do an entire water park in Sept/Oct in less than 4 hours :)

Thanks for all the tips guys! This is great.
I'm glad Sep/Oct won't present much of a problem.

Will it be too chilly then? We went at the end of Sep last year and it was HOT... is that typical?

I think we are budgeting two days for both water parks... is that too much?

Also, where can I find a schedule of when they close the parks for refurbishment so I can plan accordingly?
