What's the parking space there?

Here, in this overhead shot of the right side of Main Street, we see an expanse of parking space:

Does anyone know what that parking lot is used for? I'm not sure if cast members use it or not. I would think that they use a different space out beyond the park (which has a sign that warns about fireworks fallout). Again, can anyone please explain?

certain management, disney security and other specialized people park there, there's also a bus that stops there (IIRC it goes to the wardrobe dept. way behind the park) the central hub for Outdoor Foods (carts), balloons and other things.

So to put any attractions in that space would be out of the question?

Not out of the question, but highly unlikely.
Of course, as your picture shows, currently a good chunk of that parking lot has been chewed up for construction that is probably related to the announced plan to build an eastern bypass to Main Street USA.

Whether this space is going to be a shop, part of a covered arcade, or simply a themed outer wall with vehicle access is anyone's guess at this point.

Well, I thought about that space, at least in the corner right off of Town Square, as a spot for a new dark ride themed to old Mickey cartoons, inside a new Main Street Cinema. Old Disney cartoons can theoretically fit there if the original Main Street Cinema used to show old Disney cartoons there.

As for the bypass, I might have relocated it to the left side. There might be space over there.

That's why I brought up this thread, so I can see if I can put something worthwhile there.

I would assume the higher up staff members and emergency service vehicles would be parked there.

There are probably County Sheriff vehicles back there, but I think ambulance/EMS tend to go backstage on the west side of Main Street to be in proximity to First Aid. (Though I've seen EMT's wheeling a stretcher onto Main Street from the gate next to Tony's, so they may go to both sides)

As for the bypass, I might have relocated it to the left side. There might be space over there.

Can't do it on the west side because in addition to EMS access you have the parade staging back there getting ready to run. (The current backstage "blowoff" route is typically used during the fireworks and there is a second MSEP getting ready to step out onto Main Street 45 minutes after Wishes is over.)

Of course they can't put an attraction there or take away the parking lot completely. The managers would have to take the shuttle bus from the main parking lot and enter through the Utilidor like the normal cast members.

A few times years ago we were directed into the parking lot to make a cut through to Tomorrowland because the park was so packed. People were gridlocked waiting for the parade and fireworks. We were thankful to take the "parking lot." So building an express pathway would make things easier during the busy times.

I'm assuming that the construction site in the OP will either become a gigantic DVC kiosk, a Starbucks or at the very least a complaint desk for MM+. Call me cynical .. Lol

Look forward to the eastern bypass though .. Will it be themed? Hopefully

Cast members generally don't park there. Cast members park behind what used to be Mickey's Toontown Fair. If you've ever taken the buses to MK, there's a road that continues when you make the left to the drop off point. That road continues on back to the monorail and train hub and there's a large parking lot for cast members. Cast members then hop on buses that bring them to the park.

Yeah, I figured the cast members would probably not park there, which is why I mentioned that they likely parked in another spot which also had a sign that warned of fireworks fallout.

Well it isn't Universal Studios Magic Kingdom, is it?

What does that mean?
