What's the Best?

We have stayed at the Polynesian, and we really like it. For our next trip we don't know whether to stay there again or try something else. We have pretty much narrowed it down to three places. The Polynesian (again), Wilderness Lodge, or the Yacht/Beach Club. I just want to see what people like the most and maybe that could help us decide.

Hey DISNEYINSIDER!!!

Come on! Live a little!

The POLY is nice, but the Wilderness Lodge is our favorite place to stay! If only for the sake of trying something different, I'd recommend you staying there on your next trip. You can always go back to the POLY next time, but how will you ever know?!?!?!?

If you are really hesitant about trying some place new, how about splitting your stay between 2 resorts?? Go to the WL for the first 3-4 days, then finish up at your old favorite, the Poly!!!
It will be a great way to compare and get the best of BOTH worlds! Lower risk factor too!

The WL has the added feature of boat transportation that goes to the Contemporary, the Magic Kingdom, and Fort Wilderness. The boat is a relaxing, scenic way to view things from a different perspective.

Also, you can rent bikes at the WL and ride through trails to Fort Wilderness if you want to try something different. I'm surprised at how many people NEVER get over to Fort Wilderness in all their trips to WDW. It's a nice relaxing place to spend a few hours!

The WL is extremely relaxing and the Mountain Retreat atmosphere is a nice change from the tropical surroundings you have grown used to at the Poly. It will truly be a vacation to remember!

GOOD LUCK!!!....and HAVE FUN!!! :sohappy:

Let us know what you decide!!!

I am in the same shoes as you. I stayed at the Polynesian about 10 times in a row when I was little. I am spoiled. But the last time I went with my parents we one of the first to check into Beach club (dating myself). I have not stayed at the Poly since then (mostly because now I pay for the trips....and I digress) but I am dieing to go back with my wife and daughter. However, Beach club's pool beats out even the new polynesian pool. Total relaxation with the sand bottom pool. Great for kids too. You can walk to EPCOT and take the boat to MGM. I really like Beach Club. I have never stayed at Wilderness Lodge, but that is where my wife is hounding me to go. The only downfall that I see to there is no direct connection (other than boat to MK) to a park. But you can always walk to TTC. If I could aford the Poly, I would stay there first (only cause my wife and daughter have ne'er been). Wilderness would be my next (keep the boss happy) and then Beach Club. Hope I helped and did not make it worse.

Yacht/Beach Club Definitely. Even though I think Wilderness is great, Yacht/Beach have a big plus....LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Plus, they have the best pool on property!

Here I go sounding like an old broken record, but......Wilderness Lodge all the way!!!!

The atmosphere reminds me of home (I live in the woods :D ).

The boat to the MK is very relaxing & the launch to the Contemporary connects you with the monorail...and points beyond.

BRER STITCH & I seem to be singing the WL's praises a lot lately ( ) but the only time I stay someplace else is if we can't get a room there.

Thanks for the help so far.

Every time I pick one of them I say in my mind "That's it final answer we are staying there" Then I think about everything that is great about the other resorts and I can't decide. Tough choice when you only get to do this once a year.

Without a doubt you should try something new. The Polynesian is great but the Y/B has it all! Location, pool, much nicer rooms than the Polynesian (the beds are great!) and some great new restaurants to try. Everyone should stay there at least once. Now I will admit I have never stayed at WL due to the fact that I spent so much time in the west, I have been to all the lodges that WL is patterned on so it just doesn't have the same appeal. But I have visited there, Artist's Point is awesome so it's not like there's a bad choice. I'd just try something new, because I think that's fun. You won't be unhappy at any of them!!!!:D

TRY SOMETHING NEW--TRUST ME!!

I am obsessed with Caribbean Beach and we have stayed there almost a dozen times b/c it is our absolute favorite.

Until we booked someplace different...Yacht Club!! We were surprised beyond all belief, it was a great experience and vacation.

If I had the choose of the 3 mentioned, having never stayed at either, being a Disney newbie, I would pick Yacht & Beach for its amazing location and pool. Wilderness Lodge uses the ferry and a lot of bussing for transportation, while Poly has access to MK via monorail, as you are well aware. (And I dont think its easy access to Epcot b/c you ahve to transfer and the monorails for us, during peak times, are always stuck on the beams b/c the station ahead is experiencing high volume and the monorail must be a safe distance ahead--so thats a HUGE inconvenience to us from personal experience!!!) Yacht and Beach walk to MGM, Epcot and BoardWalk and mini golf--or take boats. It was superb!!

And if Y&B is your final choice, Yacht Club is much more elegant and grander than Beach Club.

Hope I could help, keep us abreast!!

I wish I had this problem, but I just got back, and who knows when I'll be going again!!   I think I may have to look into doing the WDW College Program.

I voted for the Polynesian, because that's the only one I've stayed at, but both the others look really nice too and some day I want to stay at those places as well.

Getting to Epcot from the Polynesian is very easy. You can walk to the TTC and then hop on the monorail.

We stayed in Rapa Nui which is right by the TTC (but far from the Main building.) No switching to be made. :sohappy:

Waliking there in 30 seconds is a lot quicker than waiting for a monorail and then taking the five minute journey. Not a huge difference I know, but Yacht/Beach does have better access to EPCOT. I think that was the point he was trying to stress.

I know, but I just wanted to inform that you don't have to make monorail transfers to get to Epcot from the Polynesian. You need to take a quick walk and then get on the monorail from there.

That does make sense and I don't know why I would not have realized this fact. To me, that makes staying at the Poly that much better than Contemp or GF...that transfer is the WORST!

When you go to Poly at the entrance before you walk into the building there are two ponds. If you are entering the hotel look at the pond to your right, if you can't see it then back up and look at it from another angle. This summer they took it out and I am not sure if they put it back.

I guess if Epcot is your favorite park, then you can call YC/BC "awesome location," otherwise I don't see what's great about it. It's location certainly isn't better than Poly OR WL.

Of the 3, and this is if I were you, I would go WL without a doubt. :)

well, as a DVC member, i've stayed at both BC and WL, and far and away, my preference lies with WL. i'm not really sure why. i guess BC, to me, just seemed like any other resort. i dunno...i just wasn't impressed (and the location didn't help it since i had stayed at BW before, and knew i could get pretty much the same location...plus, i was comparing BW and BC, and i like BW better) anyway, WL, no matter how many times i go there or talk about it, renders me speechless everytime. it's just...incredible. and staying there is incredible. and the location isn't TOO bad...just a boat ride away from MK! and, personally, i think it has some of the best music out of any Disney resort! it's just an awesome place! not to mention, it has a counter service cafe that offers just about anything you'd ever want, which is as close as i'll get to a food court in a DVC resort! my, how i miss those food courts!

good luck with a decision!
