what's less expensive:free dining or code discount

So we have been back about a month.. and we already know when we are going back.. and the giant debate is.. do we take the free dining, ( not the sit down plan) stay at Pop.. or hopefully get at code, for 25% off.. Yes, WE KNOW THAT WE SHOULD HAVE DONE THE BOUNCE BACK.. but, we just didn't know at that time , that we were going to finally do Disney during the Christmas season.. its been the major topic of discussion for days now.. if we got the same 'deal as we just had" .. we could up our food budget to say $70 per day.. ( times 6 days).. and really really eat a ton.. this food budget that we just finished came in at just over $50 per day for the two of us.. ( 10 days and 8 park days).. I would love to hear some feedback on using the dining plans.. or do you feel, that discounts on rooms, is more important.. thank you for some open and frank discussion, but please no ripping of me..

*Generally* when comparing Free Dining vs. a discount, Free Dining is the better offer for Value resorts, Percentage-off discounts are better for Deluxe, and it could go either way for Moderates.

But your best bet is to just work the numbers out for both using your dates and party size.

It will depend vastly based on the resort you are staying at and how many people are in your party. Free dining will be much more worth it if you are staying in a value and staying in deluxes will most probably save you more money with the code discount. Of course, if you are a big water, then you can save a lot with free dining. Try calculating yourself and see whether that 30 or so percent off will be more than how much you will spend on food
