What's going on with the boats to the parks?

Are the boats out of service, or just some of them? And which ones? I read that the boat from BC to HS is not in service for something like six weeks? Does anyone know when it's due to be back in service? I also read that a bridge is being repaired, so it's not the boat, but the bridge.

And does this affect any other of the resorts?

I ask because I'm currently booked at the Wilderness Lodge for two nights, and BC for three nights, and I'm depending on the boat service at both resorts. I might change my hotel choices if this is going to affect our stay. We will be at WL from June 8-10 and BC from June 14-17. Thanks so much!!!!

thanks. I read more, and, ironically enough, people seem to hate the friendship boats, so I guess it's not a big deal.

I don't think it's a case of hating them. It's more that if you have to wait for a boat, then with the stops it's almost always quicker to walk.

But then I find people complain about having to walk more than 5 minutes anywhere at Disney, even though inside the parks they walk for several miles a day! Whether it's "long halls" at Kidani or BW, or the walk from the Contemporary to MK (a whole 10 minutes if you walk at a 2 year old's pace), or from BC/YC to DHS, they feel the need to warn people about the trek that awaits them. It's bizarre .

Boats will stop running during inclement weather. Was at WL 2 weeks ago and no issues with the boats.

Meant to add, it's just the boats between Epcot and DHS that are out of action, because the bridge needs repairs. All other boats are running.

It won't affect any boats to Epcot - just the ones going under the bridge to Studios and Swan/Dolphin - in other words, the boat loop from YC/BC/BWI and Epcot International Gateway won't be affected.

Yeah, I don't count that! See my post above about people complaining about walking more than 5 minutes ..... :joyfull:

Plus OP wanted to know about boats from BC to DHS. And also, it will affect boats from DHS to Epcot.

Yes, but no need to take the boat to Epcot if you are staying at YC/BC or BW.... Walking is 10x faster.

I've walked all over Disney World and never complained once, but on our last trip, walking the hall in Kidani almost killed me... I don't know if it was the timing because it was usually at the end of the day or trying to get out in the morning, but it felt LONG...

Aside from that, I generally agree with your point.

The length is a bit of an illusion. Since you are walking down this seemingly endless hall with no real point of reference it feels like it just goes on forever. In reality, it is right about the same length as other resorts

Since there have been multiple answers in this thread that are all correct but only pieces to the full answer, to pull them together:

-The only thing affected is that the Crescent Lake resort boat route will not run the leg between Swolphin and DHS because of bridge work that won't allow the boats to pass underneath. Boats will run Epcot-Boardwalk-Yacht/Beach-Swolphin, then they'll turn around and run the route in reverse.

-During this time, bus service will be provided to DHS from the affected resorts. You can also walk, if you're so inclined.

-I don't see them setting up a bus from International Gateway to DHS, so if you're in Epcot and want to go to DHS you can either a) walk, b) walk to Beach Club (the closest resort bus stop to the IG) and take the temporary bus route from there, or c) exit out the front of the park and take the bus to DHS. (This bus is always offered, it's not special to this refurbishment)

-Boat service elsewhere on property, such as the Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon resorts, are not affected by this at all.
