Columbus Day crowds (lots of schools have fall breaks around Columbus Day) and Food & Wine crowds.

Does anyone have any recent experience with dates around the 21-25 of October? We just changed out dates to those from the 7-11, hoping it will be less crowded.
I'm assuming avoiding the 'holiday' will help obviously, but otherwise is there a big difference?
It's been almost 8 years since I went in mid/late October, but it was great then!
