What would you do to make WDW back to where it once was?

I don't know how enhancing the experience at WDW by adding a new gate will water down wdw. The amount of attractions and accommodations makes wdw what it is. I think that what waters down disney is non disney buildings on disney property.

By adding a park, it just takes away resources from the existing parks. It happened with AK. It will continue to happen.

They don't need any more excuses to NOT improve the existing parks, and if they add a 5th park, that's exactly what would happen.

MK is getting some much needed attention right now with the refurbs everywhere and the FLE. Epcot could use a new country or two...or just some attractions added to the pavilions that were designed to have them originally.

But DHS and AK are seriously lacking - especially AK. They need to invest some serious cash in those two parks before they even consider another park.

ChrisFL is correct. DDP and 180 day ADR are terrible. We used to enjoy going to the parks and maybe going to a restaurant, but now that option doesn't exist. Being forced to decide what you are going to eat 6 months in advance is ludicrous!

In the spirit of how law requires DVC to allocate a percentage of the villas to "cash" guests, I would like to see the TS restaurants all over property allocate a percentage of tables each hour to walk-ins. Maybe they do, but it obviously isn't enough.

I will admit (and dodge the rotten fruit and vegetables being thrown) that I like the DDP, and really like that Free Dining allows families to visit who would otherwise not be able to afford to go to Disney World AND eat while they're there.

However, I also believe that "regulars" (including AP, DVC, FL Res) should be able to arbitrarily go to a park and enjoy a nice dinner. All other arguments aside (like the devaluation of the food, poorer quality, etc), making sure people could still walk-in and get a seat would really go a long way toward redeeming several anti-DDP guests, I would guess.

I wouldn't mind if the restaurants were able to fully incorporate that into their resources and budget, but I fear it's the "bird in the hand" principle when it comes to ADRs as opposed to walk-ups....

It can if they don't allocate additional funds for a new gate along with increasing their staffing levels.

I have the same thought. I don't know what resources are going to be taken away by a 5th gate.

Because no matter how many new CMs are hired, there are finite logistical and maintenance resources, just to name two. There's also finite numbers for engineering and construction professionals, and those individuals have their hands full with any number of projects at WDW for the next few years.

I understand what you are trying to say but there is a fatal flaw.

Disney doesn't just pull from the local market for logistical and maintenance resources. For example the two construction companies involved in the FLE are Construction based out of Birmingham, AL and Barton Malow based out of Southfield, Michigan.

They always outsource construction projects, just put it out for bids, and usually always go for the lowest bid.

Well, that was pretty arrogant of you. Some people can't afford larger resorts, or they don't want to spend a lot of money for a few days at WDW when they can spend a reasonable sum.

While the discounts and offers are getting rediculous, they wouldn't need to do all of that if the prices were better. When it costs almost $100 a day to do just 1 park, that could be an area of improvement. lol

A 5th park wouldn't be a good idea. It would be best to improve what they have.

Dump some money into the resorts. The value resorts, esp. No, they don't need to be luxuried out but they definitely should be better than the $90 hotels off property since they cost more.

Improve family accom. Just because people aren't well off doesn't mean they should live on top of each other. Should value resorts be villa size? Probably not but having Villas that were half price would be great. The villas are Deluxe level. Do some villas at value level. Yes, I know they are (finally) building a family resort but the room layouts for it still leave some room for thought (or lack of room for thought ;) )

DDP needs to go. Seems like DDP drastically drove up the prices and lowered availability. It used to be that you could go to some of these places and not have a long wait. Planning 180 days in advanced on where and when you'll eat is just nuts. Some people don't have the liberty to plan years in advance. It also kills it for AP holders who would like to swing by the parks for a weekend. No chance of getting into some of those places. Ive never been able to eat at the nicer restaurants as we go to Disney with our tax returns and usually go before the summer. I'm way inside the 180 window lol

IMO DVC cheapened Disney. It's bad enough to have to try to ignore the Westgate sales people. I really don't care for the DVC booths in the parks. Maybe that's really the problem. Get the DVC booths out of the parks.

CM training could use some improvement. They could add classes on speaking and handling the public or classes on sensitivity. CMs arguing with guests about their child's WCs is uncalled for. Understandable that they wouldn't recognize and name every model out there, but don't argue with the parent unless it is GROSSLY obvious it's a baby stroller and they didn't get the sticker, and, if that's the case, nicely inform them of a needed trip to GS.

I think repairing all of the broken affects is a given.

*excuse any typos or grmmar errors. I just took albeuterol and am very jittery and shaky lol

so only the rich or frivolous can go? I rather stay at value and buy a bunch of souvin. Or I guess my family, that serves this country, doesn't deserve the right to go to Disney.

That's right. And don't you forget it! If you don't make as much money as other people, you don't DESERVE to go to Disney.

A better price breakout would help. They raise prices every year and then offer discounts.

I think the DDP gets a bad rap as its a victim of other changes that have occured at the same time. There was a better dining plan before 2005. That plan gave points to use for dinning, tours or limited merchandise. So it offset everyone using points for dinning. The ADR system will be used with or w/o the dinning plan so getting rid of the dinning plan isn't going to solve the ADR system. The ADR system needs to be reworked. Don't allow double booking or booking close to each other.

This one will get us in trouble but I agree. DVC has lowered the quality of Disney. It has your money every year so what is the incentive to keep the parks fresh?
