What would you do these 2 nights?

We are headed to WDW for 6 days/ 7 nights the week after Thanksgiving. We will be visiting my in-laws 2 hours from Disney a few days before our trip, and driving from their home to our resort Sunday afternoon then spending the next 6 days straight at the parks.

I was thinking it would be nice to ease into the trip with a fun dinner out somewhere. If we're lucky enough to score free dining then I was thinking of the hoop-dee-doo review, but if not, I can't really stomach dropping $200+ on dinner and would like to find a more affordable (but still fun!) option. Any ideas? We're staying at CBR first few days of our trip, which will have very limited dining options due to construction (but would probably eat elsewhere anyways). I would love to see some of the Christmas decorations up at one of the resorts, too.

That Tuesday, we'll be at MK and plan to leave around 5-6, because we're not going to Mickey's Xmas party that night. (We will be back at MK the next day, too). Should we try to eat dinner before leaving the park or would you choose a restaurant at one of the resorts? I'm not sure how crowded MK gets in the evening during the xmas party.

Thanks for any ideas! :)

How about Whispering Canyon Café? It's almost like a dinner show with all the antics going on, plus bottomless milkshakes and all-you-care-to-enjoy options in addition to the regular menu. Then you'll be able to spend some time at Wilderness Lodge looking at the holiday decorations just as you wanted! Hopefully they're up by that time.

For the other day, I wouldn't try to eat in the park before you leave, unless you specifically want to eat at one of the restaurants there, as it could cut into your park touring time. Unless that's okay with you, I would go across the Seven Seas Lagoon to Polynesian Resort to Kona Café or 'Ohana! Guests going to MVMCP start entering MK at 4pm.

Those are both wonderful ideas. Thanks!!

I'd suggest a character meal the first night too (if your kids like them). It's a good way to get into the Disney spirit. Maybe Chef Mickey's and then you could check out the decorations on the monorail loop? And I agree with belledream about not eating in the park the night you're leaving MK early. You could go to one of the monorail resorts for supper or Disney Springs would be a good option, too.

My daughter who's 6 would be all about a character meal- but my son who will be 10 by the trip doesn't love them anymore (sniff sniff)
I'm wondering if we should do Whispering Canyon Cafe Tuesday after leaving MK, and on Sunday either do the monorail loop or just visit another resort. It is so hard to decide (and I guess I don't need to today, considering our trip isn't until November :) )

Whispering Canyon would definitely be a good option for Tuesday! Then you can spend the other day on the monorail like you said, or even consider going to Epcot area resorts. Resort hopping there is a completely different experience! Maybe try Beaches & Cream for dinner!

There are just too many good options to choose from and not enough time, that's our problem, lol! Thanks for the tip :) :)
