We Starred in a Disney Commercial!

I have been a long time viewer of this page but have never posted. Well, on our last visit we had a great experience that I thought I would share.

We planned a trip with two other families for the end of January 2009. We had, at one time, all worked together but life has taken us to new jobs and living in three different states. We decided to all get together in Disney World for waht you coul call a reunion. To make a long story a bit shorter, I'll just say that our group was chosen to be filmed in a commercial for Disney's What Will You Celebrate promotion.

The filming took place this past January 22nd in the Magic Kingdom. It was a great day. Even though filming did take place until the afternoon, Disney assigned our group two Disney Special Activities VIP Tour guides for the day. They sent two vans to pick us up at OKW at 7:30 am for our character breakfast at Tusker House in AK. We were driven to the park and shown to the restaurant through a back stage entrance. Even though we had this breakfast planned long before we were chosen, Disney picked up the tab for all 14 of us. Very nice.

From there we loaded back into the vans and went to DHS where we entered via back stage near the Tower of Terror. We then went to Toy Story Mania were we got to right into the Fast Pass line. From there we went to TT were we were snuck in the back entrance and quickly onto the ride. From there, it was over to RNR Coaster and, again, through the back entrance onto the ride.

Then it was time to head to MK. We parked in a backstage lot and entered the park heading for the Haunted Mansion. From there we got lumch at Columbia Harbor House, again the tab was picked up. We then did a quick sneak onto Peter Pan's Flight then headed to main street to meet the camera crew.

After meeting with the crew and Disney's photographer, we headed towards the Jungle Cruise as they photographed and filmed us walking down Main Street and near the castle. We then did two consecutive rides on JC while being filmed. From there it was over to Thunder Mountain. We did two consecutive rides while having still photography done and then one more ride with still and film photgraphy. After that, they did some interview filming with the coaster in the background. From there we did some filming near the castle and then headed to the Rose Garden.

At the Rose Garden it was more filming and photgraphy of private meeting with Mickey & Minnie. Our kids had a blast and so did we.

Attached is a link to the commercial. Ours is the second story - the reunion. Our son is the one in the Hawiian print shirt and our daughter is toddler, the youngest one just starting to walk.

We received a phone call from Disney. They were checking reservations for the time period between 1/20 - 1/27 for groups. They wanted to know what, if anything we might be celebrating. After hearing what we were doing, the infornation was passed along to the production group which picked several groups. We were asked to submit some photos of our families to the production company. After about two or three weeks we received a call saying that they picked our group. Since this was the first day of the trip, it was very unique way to start off.

I forgot to mention that the commercial was for the Scripps Network family of channels. It is currently being aired on HGTV and the Food Network.
