What will replace Rock 'N' Roller Coaster + "Magical Mystery Tour Coaster" Idea

I think it's inevitable that eventually this attraction will close for a few reasons:
  • The theming hasn't changed in years.
  • Aerosmith is as popular as it used to be.
  • There are so many better ideas to replace it.
  • Overall when you remove the Aerosmith music, it's basically just an indoor coaster with a couple cheesy cardboard cutouts.
Now lets look over the ideas many people have speculated:
  • A Monsters Inc. "Door" Coaster.
  • An Avengers or Iron Man themed coaster.
  • A Wreck-It Ralph coaster.
These ideas actually have good possibilities. The Monsters Inc. Door Coaster, while it would be tough to have a narrative, could possibly work with good theming. Same goes for the Wreck-It Ralph idea, but then again if the Stitch replacement rumor is true then it probably won't happen. Out of all of these, the Avengers idea is the most likely with the rumor that all of Sunset Boulevard will become a Marvel Land (which I'm still worried about).

However, one idea I had was this: "The Magical Mystery Tour Coaster".

In the queue you enter Abbey Road Studios to meet The Beatles, with the walls lined up with albums, posters and more. You enter the pre-show room you are greeted by AAs of all 4 Beatles. Paul informs us that sadly, they are "scheduled for a trip" and can't get to meet you all. However, John suggests that they bring the fans with them, and you are invited to join them on the Magical Mystery Tour.

You are then lead out to the boarding area, a 60's style back alley. You then board a colorful vehicle painted like the Magical Mystery Tour Bus, and are launched into the attraction. Like the current attraction, it will play a randomised song from the Magical Mystery Tour album. The ride building itself will be much more elaborate. The plywood donuts and tacos are replaced with psychedelic projection-mapping, animatronics, senses and more. One moment you'll be rushing through a strawberry-scented field, then you'll soar above George Harrison with his floor-piano, then passing a band consisting of a walrus, a hippo, a chicken and a rabbit, before the ride ends, pulling up into a police station (a tongue-in-cheek ending hinting that the ride was an acid trip). You then exit into a Beatles gift shop where you can buy records and t-shirts.

What do you guys think? Tell me your ideas for what they should do with Rock 'N' Roller Coaster.

Yes sounds a fun idea. To be honest though I don't think that the Aerosmith theme has ever been a factor that attracts people to it, rather just a 'storyline' that adds more to it. I'd kind of miss it if it wasn't there, though I don't own any Aerosmith CD's or consider myself a fan of them. I do however think their music really fits the ride and mixes well with the adrenaline rush especially on that first acceleration that leads into the loop. As far as I'm concerned, they can leave it as it is for the next 20 years and I'd still love it.

I think it has great potential for a theme change, but with the way things look over at Paris and Disneyland and - well, Burbank - there's no doubt in my mind the new RnR Coaster would carry a Marvel theme.

Then it'll give $hapek something to fall on for changing the WDW ToT. "Great news, since the new Iron Man coaster is doing so well, we thought we would change Sunset Blvd to Marvel Land and ToT to Avengers"

They changed it to a Star Wars coaster for a recent event.

Making that change permanent would be cheap, easy, and popular. I'd bet on that over any other possibility at this point.

The argument to this is that the rest of the Star Wars theme/rides will be on the complete opposite side of the park. Wouldn't make any sense to do that. The one suggestion that I thought was probably the best before a ride was announced for Epcot, was changing it to a Guardians of the Galaxy coaster.

I don't think it needs to be changed at all. Disney needs to focus on adding, not constantly retheming. Disney's track record for retheming (in my opinion) is terrible: they've diminished more attractions than they've improved by messing with them (e.g., POTC gaining Jack Sparrow and losing a cogent storyline, Alien Encounter becoming Stitch's Great Escape, Tiki Room's change to "Under New Management," Imagination...) Then again, I'm an infrequent visitor, so I don't tire of attractions staying the same (or simply being upgraded and improved within their current theme, without needless retheming) for years.

It makes about as much sense as a Frozen ride in World Showcase, a Marvel coaster in Future World, 'Soarin in Future World, Monster's Inc. in Tomorrowland, etc.

Making sense really isn't high on Disney's list of priorities right now.

Besides, in Anaheim Star Tours and Hyperspace Mountain will continue to exist outside Star Wars land. Having Star Wars in more than one spot is not an unusual concept.

Completely disagree. When I go to WDW for a week, there's plenty to do to keep me busy the whole time. I'd rather they improve what they have than increase volume for volume's sake.

But what if said reskin is not an improvement; simply a re-theme to advertise the latest and greatest from Disney's subsidiaries?

And this doesn't bother you much?

So true - - - - - - so much space. Disney does not need to do this - it is quite cheap and cheesy.

I have suggested a RnRC style Beatles coaster as a ride in the UK pavilion before. Considering two of the members are dead and they haven't been an active group for close to 50 years it's hard to figure out how to depict them on the ride, but AA's was a good idea since they're basically historical figures at this point. I've also heard it suggested to use their cartoon alter-egos Yellow Submarine in an animated pre-show. Riding a rollercoaster with I am the Walrus or Strawberry Fields playing, accompanied by appropriate psychedelic imagery would definitely be a cool experience. The licensing fees for The Beatles would be crazy, though. Also not sure how well they fit into Hollywood Studios since they're a British band and recorded in the UK.

Or just go see the Beatles Cirque show if ever you find your way out Vegas way. Tremedously executed, while tastefully paying tribute to John and George..and yes, their cartoon avatars are featured in the show. Well worth spending the $ on.

I wasn't expressing an opinion on Disney's actions, just pointing out that their recent track record suggests they would have no qualms about turning RnRC into a Star Wars coaster, regardless of how inappropriate or out of place any of us might think it is.

You didn't answer the question. Just wanted to know where you stand.
