while i was sitting there waiting for the show, I couldn't for the life of me think of what used to be there. I've only been to mgm twice but I believe it was part of the back lot maybe?

Residential Street used to be there. :(

I'm excited to see LMAX but I'm still crushed that the house facades are gone. Espescially Verns house from Ernest Saves Christmas.

I like LMAX it is much needed but I also miss what used to be there that was always my favorite part of the backlot tour now the backlot tour just seems useless.

then that means there is no hope of new Golden Girls episodes ever. :zipit:

Well, that, and the grim reaper.

And to pre-empt any future threads and flames, No I don't know anything about the health of any of the actresses.

What were the houses used for? I have pics from 2000 of the Golden Girls house and the Empty Nest house. Does anyone know what the others were?

And b/c the houses are demolished and no longer, the Osborne Lights Display has been moved to Streets of America where it is nothing like it used to be.

As beautiful as they may appear in "the Big City," it is not anywhere the same as theyused to be. The small town feel of wlaking form house to house is erased, where each house had its own personality. Now the facades are merely draped with lights too close together.

That's the biggest loss, the effect LMAX had on Osborne Lights.

Good question! I've often wondered this myself ~ does anyone know?

And I agree surfsupdon, I'll bet it's a tremendous loss for the lights :(

great pics rob, (i look at your site all the time...esp pic of the week), do you know which houses are which?
good question.... ive always wondered myself.

i think that you can only look at the facade of set houses so many times before the "oh, look honey, there is blanch's house" wears off a little........ but that is just me.

Excuse you, indeed.

LMAX=Lights, Motors, Action!

LMAX...not IMAX.

The OP means LMAX, and since you're new here, I'm not too sure you know what that means. It stand for Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show which just came to the Disney-MGM Studios from Walt Disney Studios Paris.

BTW, there are IMAX screens in Disney. Look in Epcot. There's a rather large on in some ride called Soarin'

No mean to be rude, though...
