Imagineering has something like 200 different disciplines from the highly educated lawyers and engineers to artists and crafts people. You will have to show talent and know how in your field to be hired in imagineering. I am working towards that myself as an artist and hope someday to get a job with WDI. I think the more knowledge you have the better, if your talking about working with CAD then knowing something about design will be good. I know one thing I read recently was John Lassiter said if you cant draw you dont belong in Imagineering so if you havent taken any drawing classes take some, you will learn some basic design concepts in those classes also.
