Hey Everyone!! We recently made our Plans for our 2013 trip to Wdw and with 5 schedules in consideration We Booked a 1br at Akv for The last week of August!

Now that the Holidays are Behind us we are all getting excited and making plans for our trip!

Heres my questions...

What can We expect as far as crowds go?? I know a lot of the schools are already back in session in the southern parts of the country and am Hoping itll be a nice slow week.

How about The Weather?? We went In mid- July a few years back and REALLY loved the Nice Hot afternoons. We Dressed appropratley and wore Our sun screen and were Really Fine with very little Ill effects from the sun and heat...will It be simular??

Lastly, Whats everyone Think of Akv?? Its out Home resort But this will be our first stay and My son is really excited about the Pool!! We hear it may be the best pool on property??

Thanks in advance for any info/advice you may offer!!

We went Aug 14-18 back in 2011 and even at that point, the crowds were starting to thin. In fact, we found it to be less crowded than early December. TP (which I don't trust for crowd numbers) said all of our days would be 8s and 9s, but they felt more like 2-4s at most times.

I lived in FL for several years and have lived in TX for some time now as well, so August at Disney isn't that much of a weather transition for us. Actually, it was cooler there than it was at home. Like July, you'll just want to be prepared for the potential for the daily afternoon T-storm and everything else that comes with a summer visit. Some say August is hotter, but really- it's not that much hotter. Most of our days were upper 80s to low 90s, but still be prepared for low to mid 90s with the possibility of low triple digit heat.

Never stayed at AKV so no thoughts on that.

I've been down to Disney several times in August and I love it. The schools in the south are back in session and most people in the north have already taken their vacations so typically there are little amounts of crowds. The weather is the same in July and August (although I did feel like it rained a lot more in August than in July but the showers only last 20 mins.) As for AKV, I haven't stayed there so I can't comment on that but the resort itself is beautiful!

My last two trips were in late Aug. The crowds didn't seem any different than in the fall months. In fact, when the Food and Wine festival is going on the crowds are greater in the fall. I don't mind the heat and you can alswys duck into someplace that has AC.

We were there last august, and may be back this coming august. went the 3rd week of august, crowds were not too bad. Did rain every day for a length of time though. One night real bad, but we had our ponchos and we were good to go. Crowds were manageable, if your ok with a little rain, and ducking into AC, wed do it again for sure personally! We played the park in the morning pool in the afternoon, park in the evening game. That worked the best for us.

The later in August, the lower the crowds. Once schools start to go back, many families have no choice. It's kinda strange to take your child out of school the 2nd week in for a trip to WDW. I'd be prepared to hot, and possibly frequent short showers.

As far as AKL goes, are you staying at Kidani or Jambo? The pool at Jambo is nice, but nothing special. Kidani has a great little kids water play type area outside which is pretty cool. Both are great areas, but we prefer Jambo as a convenience factor since the Mara is located in that building. But Kidani is a bit quieter, and doesn't have the same massive open area lobby.

We traditionally go the last week of August and my son misses the first week of school. Normally, we rarely wait for anything! Last year, it was a whole different ball game. It was the busiest I have ever seen it! We are going the third week in August this year bc the cms said it was slower.
