Yes! We made reservations at Animal Kingdom Lodge!!! We have a standard view room, and are really excited, however, we have never been to AKL and don't know what to expect. Any comments good or bad would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

You're gonna have fun!

There is alot to do and see at this resort. Do a search on AKL here and you'll find plenty of threads on the subject.

Also, checkout the review section here at WDWMagic.com, there are reviews of AKL as well.

Also look for trip reports from people that have stayed there.

We have stayed there several times, and are returning in October.

Things to do: Animal watching, food at Jiko, Boma. The shop is quite nice. Talk to the staff, they all have great stories to tell. There are alot of other good stuff like story telling, tours, etc.

One question though, if you can offord it, I'd upgrade to a savanna room if it's possiable. It makes the whole trip even more magical. If you can't though, don't worry. There are plenty of places to view the animals from.

Have fun!

I agree with this and would say this is one of the few Resorts that can really be enhanced unbelieveably by upgrading your room. If it's at all possible do so. You will still have much to do and see if you can't, but it is worth it.

We stayed in May of 2002 and it is just a spectacular resort. We just loved the theming and atmosphere throughout the whole Lodge. The lobby is breathtaking with its sights and smells. All the restaurants have delicious food. The rooms are exquisitely decorated and cozy. It is our resort of choice....well when we have the money to go Deluxe. :)

The ONLY negative thing I could say is that try to get a room close to the lobby/bus stop area. This resort covers a LOT of area. If you get a room towards the back of the Lodge, you could be in for a hefty walk back to your room after a long day in the parks.

Ahh, the smells... :slurp: I'm getting excited just thinking about walking into that lobby in October...7 long months away....:(

Also, if you stay at AKL, remember to touch the wood carving between the two front doors as you leave every morning. It's for good luck, and has always been good to us! :D
