What to Expect after New Year's Eve

We are planning our first time trip December 31-January 5. What should we expect the park crowds to be during our stay? Obviously December 31 and January 1 will be busy but what about the rest of our stay? I want our first Disney vacation to be enjoyable.

Most schools will still be on holiday until the 5th. So, I would guess (we usually go in beg. Jan) that it will be moderatly busy until at least the 5th. On the 5th it will probably thin out greatly except for the added marathon people. I am going Jan 3 - Jan 10th. :king:

BTW it is Disney World, Regardless of the Crowds You will Have A GREAT TIME :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy: Unless you make it otherwise:fork:. Whether there are lots of people or a small crowd there are always angry people and jerks that you are going to have to deal with....... Just be concerned with yourself and use fastpass when you can :) :)

PS.... It will by a busy elbow to elbow crowd the 31st.... The AM of the 1st isn't tooooo bad, but after that you should see a steady decline in crowds.........Make sure you make your dinner reservations now. A few of my choice places have already booked up during that time.

OH, and Where are my manners..... Welcome to the boards. You have come to the right place. If you have any questions, ask away. People here do their best to help you have an enjoyable vacation.:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

I am going to the Magic Kingdom on the 1st - I hope that it is not too crowded. I do not plan on arriving there until about 6pm (only for the parade and fireworks). Is that suggested?

It was crowded on the 1st when we went in the pm. The AM wasn't as bad though. I don't remember if any of the parks reached capacity or not. I can't remember. It is generally a pretty busy time. But, perhaps others will put in their experiences with this date. My experience is based only on one trip actually on the 1st two years ago. Even though it was nutso busy, we had a great time.

Oh gosh, someone please help me with January 1st. I have heard mixed reviews about the 1st at the MK.

I would guess that its going to be very busy, although I have never been at that time so can't say whether I have seen MK reach capacity or not. However i guess if it was to you might find my sort of 6 that some families especially with younger children may have had just about enough, so perhaps some people may leave the park.

December 31st will be packed - chaotic.

January 1st wll be quiet in the morning following everyones late night the previous day - mid day onwards expect crowds to pick up again.

January 2nd onwards - crowds will die down as families with school age kids return home ready for January 5th restarts
