Hello all,

We are staying at CBR. What rooms are next to the beaches? We don't plan on dinner there but we would like to be close to a bus stop. We are in our 60's and don't have kids.

What do you suggest?

Thanks!

Every "village" has a beach, a bus stop and a pool--
If you want to be close to the lobby/main pool, the Preferred (more expensive) rooms are in Martinique and Trinidad.

(And if you want the Pirates of the Caribbean rooms, think they're in Trinidad South.)

Here's what you'll want.

1) Steer clear of Barbados, but if you stay there aim for buildings 12 or 13.
2) In Martinique, aim for building 25 or 26.
3) In Trinidad North, aim for building 31.
4) Stay away from Trinidad South, but if you stay there ask for buildings 37 or 36.

For your concerns, Aruba and Jamaica are probably not good options, as their bus stops are a haul, even though they are my favorite. I like buildings Aruba 51, 52, 53 and Jamaica 44, 45.

Based on your considerations, I think Martinique 26 is your best bed. It's a very short walk to the Old Port Royale bus stop from there, as well as Old Port Royale itself (gift shop, food court, etc.). There is a beach a short distance away as well. Also, ask for a garden view.

Here's a map.

is Trinidad north compared to Martinique for preferred rooms?

actually Barbados is a good option for those who don't plan on eating at the resort since you're right across from the Custom House. very easy check-in and check-out.

Yes, but a long walk to Customs House and the Bus Stop. Walking distance to the bus stop was an expressed concern.

we had a short walk from Building 13 to the bus.
Yes, but only there. And, even if they don't plan on eating, proximity to the gift shop to pick up items delivered from the parks is nice.

One advantage of the western part of the resort (Jamaica, Aruba, Martinique) though is that they lie preferably, on average, along the bus routes. So, you are generally among the last to pick up to head to the parks (Martin is last, many times) which is nice, because you are headed straight to the parks after boarding, and you are among the first to be dropped off at night.

Martinique is where we always stay. If you are in 24 it's close to the bus stop and not a terribly long stroll to Old Port Royale. You can call and have you and your luggage taken over to the Custom House when it's checkout time. You can have a nice walk along the beach in the evening, go lay on a hammock, roast some marshmallows on the beach. We really enjoy CBR. We've only stayed at another Disney property once. The only exception I would see to us staying there would be WL for our a significant anniversary (20th, 25th, etc..)

All of them except Martinique and Trinidad South are standard rooms. The only exception being the Pirate Rooms which are in Trinidad North.

Thanks. I have no idea which building, if any, I'll request for my on-line check in. They all probably have their positives & negatives. I've never stayed at CBR yet, and am looking forward to it.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with Aruba, Jamaica or Martinique. If Aruba or Jamaica, request to be "near the bridge" with a "garden, lake or pool view". They'll know exactly what you want.

If Martinique, request to be near the beach closest to Old Port Royale.

Just my opine.

There's some misinformation going on above.

Preferred location is a separate room category the costs more per night. There are six buildings that have preferred location rooms. These are all of the buildings in Trinidad North (31,32,33) and half of Martinique's buildings (24,25,26); this means that the other half of Martinique's buildings (21,22,23) are standard rooms. Martinique 24-25-26 are very slightly closer to the food court/shops; Trinidad North is very slightly closer to the pool area.

Booking a standard room and then requesting a preferred location room (such as requesting Martinique 24 or Trinidad North 31) won't do much good, since those rooms cost more and are totally separate booking category; I mean, while it can't hurt to request a free upgrade, you shouldn't put any real hope into it.

All of Trinidad South are Pirate-themed rooms. This is also a separate room category that costs more per night.

Standard rooms are located in Aruba, Barbados, Jamaica and half of Martinique.

Next, there simply is no such thing as a village that has a longer walk to a bus stop and any other village. Each village has its very own bus stop.

In terms of which standard village is best overall, it's really impossible to say. Since the only real difference between any of them is walking distance to Old Port Royale (the hub that has the main pool, shops, food court, restaurant, etc.), let's look at that. Because of the way each village is oriented and because each village is so big, there are vast differences within any one village.

[In past years when I had a lot of time on my hands I used satellite photos to measure exact distances, and I'm using that information here.] Aruba 51, Jamaica 45 and Martinique 22 are the closest standard buildings to Old Port Royale. And they're EXACTLY the same distance down to 0.01 of a mile. So you'd think that requesting Jamaica or Aruba will place you kinda near OPR. The problem with that idea is that Jamaica 41 is THE farthest standard building from OPR, followed closely by Aruba 56.

The VERY VERY best way to request a room (if this is being done with a person and not chosen from a website's list) is to say what feature you want. If you want to be as close as possible to OPR, say so. If you want to be as close as possible to a bus stop, say so. Beach? Say that. If you request a certain building, the rooms assigner has no any of knowing WHY you want a certain building. If that building is full, they'll just put you anywhere, but if they know what you want to be near they can try to hook you up with that same amenity in a different village.

We requested a corner room in Martinique and we were granted our request. I've found never to request a certain building without explaining why you are requesting it (as @CleveRocks pointed out above!) but rather requesting a certain amentity works better (@ All Star Sports were requested Touchdown section and close to transportation and we got that request granted too)
