What process should I go about?

Hi,

Just returned home from a week at WDW :( Depressing, but, not why I am posting. I am going into my final semester of undergrad and have decided that it is time to go make the World part of my life. I will be graduating with a Communications degree and would love to work as a CM with hopes of someday making my way up the ladder.

I graduate in May, and am curious as to when I should apply. Also, I am pretty sure it is required that I make a trip to WDW to apply in person at casting, but could anyone clarify for me? I talked to a CM at Soarin' this week who said she was hired on the spot, so I don't want to interview with two months of school to go and not be able to start immediately. At the same time, I do not want to go down and apply too late.

I did not do the college program, but feel that should not hinder my ability to gain employment with WDW. I realize these questions have been answered before, but if I could get any help I would greatly appreciate it!! Feel free to respond and/or PM me!! Thanks!!!

The amount of time between when you are hired and when you start working can vary depending on how badly they need people. You might do better interviewing a month or so ahead of when you want to start and just make sure you tell them when you want to start working. It helps to already have a job in mind when you are looking at housing. Plus I've had friends who were "hired on the spot" but didn't start working for months because of problems with their paperwork.
Another option you might want to consider is a professional or managment internship. It's one way to get a salaried or O&T job experience in the company and makes it that much easier to move up the ladder. Many of the positions do require a CP first, but not all of them! It's definitely something to consider!
I'm a communications major graduating in May, as well. I know exactly how you feel!

you can do a CP after graduation; that's what i did. it's a great way to get a taste of the parks and learn about different roles quickly, because everyone you know is doing something different. you have someplace to live, convenient ways to meet people, and learn the area. if you have any questions about it, feel free to PM me. :)

also, you don't have to start paying your student loans back yet! neither CPs nor full timers make much right away. :ROFLOL:
