We saw the MSEP for the first time in 10 years. While my kids loved it, we were less than impressed. While I almost got the warm and fuzzies on the nostalgia aspect (especially Pete), is was laughably outdated. The music so outdated (even though my husband did say the synthesizers were current with Kayne West's music:po_O) And synched up bulb lights? My neighbors do that on their house at Christmas. Is it blasphemy for not digging the MSEP? I think it has the potential for being an awesome technology inspired parade, but yikes... all we were missing were some slouch socks, acid washed jeans and some AquaNet in my hair :D

I saw it for the first time last December and loved it BECAUSE it was so simple and old-fashioned! (especially Pete's Dragon)

I saw it for the first time in WDW last May. It was OK. I remember seeing it at DL and it seemed so much more lively and brilliant and entertaining... it was almost like it was being drug through the streets at MK with it's tail tucked between its legs.

However, I did enjoy the MISICI during the day. That was nice and energizing.

WDW is due for a new night parade like, fifteen years ago.

The weird thing about the Main Street Electrical Parade's music is that it's actually quite new.
It's supposed to sound like original Moog recording but it's off by just a bit.

Ahh! Maybe that's it! Maybe that's why it seemed so different at DL vs. MK. Aside from the obvious, of course.

I really really dislike the new version of the music. It sounds awful to me.

And yeah, maybe it's nostalgia, but this is one of my favorite parades.

When I first saw it, it was one of my favorite things in the whole park. But that was at a time when there were more floats, and more characters...and it just seemed more magical.

I miss Spectro too.

Same here, but probably because I listened to the '80s version so many times on one of those official park CDs as a kid.
There was a similar thread on here about this not long ago and supposedly the new version of the song "fixes" a rhythm error in the original that was causing some sort of timing problem.

So these days, what's the current big dog on the block when it comes to Disney night parades, worldwide?

:pAgain, my kids loved it. But from the very beginning with the introduction in the robot voice...lolo_O.

I just think the night's darkness could lend hand to some amazing awe-inspiring visual effects. They could keep the nostogilic characters (I love me some Pete's Dragon) while updating the technology. And that's my two cents:happy:

I have to admit MSEP is pretty, and cool to see if you've never seen it before, but it gets less magical each time we see it (maybe that's because we always seem to get stuck watching it while walking from one part of the park to another ). I agree that MK is due for a new night parade.

I remembered MSEP being on television in the 1980's when I was a kid and I first saw it live in 1991.

I really think MSEP is worse than Spectro Magic. This version of MSEP doesn't have the same music and it is really aging. It needs to be updated in terms of technology or be replace the parade with a new one.
