What is up with room availability??

I was just trying to price some room rates out online at the Contemporary and its rarely allowing me to choose a "normal" room. By that I mean a garden view or tower. It seems to restrict me to suites and other very high priced rooms.

And this is in early December of NEXT YEAR! What is going on?

Try calling 407-WDISNEY, the site can be very misleading sometimes on what you can and cannot book. I believe it was Merf who commented on how at times things are promoted, because that is what Disney needs/wants to fill. Give them a call and be persistent in your demands for a regular room. It is much easier to deal with a rep than a computer....unless of course you get a rep who barely speaks any english (which I got the last 2 times!)

Click thru the different rooms. I can get quotes for Garden Wing Deluxe, Tower-Theme Park View as well as Garden Wing and Bay Lake View suites. What days are you looking for?

The room choice changes when I change the date I'm looking for.

EDIT: I just tried again and it did give me a choice this time. However, it appears disney has changed their value season as the tower room is much higher than it is at other times of the seasons $410

Well I just plugged in your data and they send me to the Poly, which tells me there are no rooms available for you at the Contemporary.

You can always call WDW and ask about pricing and availability, you don't have to book today. Just be polite about it.

EDIT: just tried again and it gives me rooms...maybe we are canceling each other out. :lol:

Maybe they are just having difficulties with their system incorperating the new dates :shrug:

But I am in contact with Kingdom Consultants so hopefully they will be able to help.

disney reservations online

I am having the same problem. They keep offering me club level and suites (which I'd love but can't afford) rather than standard rooms. I have tried WL, Contemp., POLY, GF and Boardwalk for December 2008.

I hope they fix it soon.

DRC has been having issues with their system all day. When talking with one of my friends over there she said, and this was at about 2 PM that they had already gone down about 3 times so far....

It's not a glitch with the reservation system - it's trying to upsell you.

It's not some conspiracy theory i made up randomly, it's factual information based on what i've heard from people who do the reservations/computer system for the hotels.

I must say I am NOT happy with Disney marketing right now. I realize my vacation is still wayyyyy out but I REALLY want something set in stone to look forward to. Something done, ready to go, etc. I can't do that until they "LET" me book a room. Imagine that, Disney not letting me book nights in a DELUXE resort.

I had the same problem booking the Poly for next April; the web site kept offering me a 1 bedroom suite for some ridiculous amount of money when all I wanted was a garden view room. So I gave up online, called CRO and told the CM my dates, garden view at the Poly, and it was done. He didn't try to upsell me a more $$ room, he just booked what I asked him to. I agree w/you, the web site is very frustrating in that regards.

I don't know what CRO is but I did call the telephone booking line. I talked to a representative and she offered to give me the rates(but could not guarantee a travel agent could book it). So I said sure, at least if she gives me the rates that means SHE can book it. However, when she tried to pull them up she said..."huh...I can't get the rates for the cheaper rooms. You're right. Sorry"

I then asked if she knew a date when I asked them and she says she has "no idea, its entirely up to marketing...."

Whatever... that's weird that she wouldn't (couldn't?) give you the less expensive room rate. Although when I first asked for a AAA rate for the Poly, I was told it wasn't available. Then a coworker (who called before I had) said he had booked a AAA rate for similar dates at the WL. So I called back, and sure enough a different CM had the AAA rate for my dates. It seems you're at the whim of whatever CM answers your call. Too bad we don't have JPVonDrake's direct line! :lol: j/k

Well maybe they have gotten the message that this isn't making me/others happy OR they are updating the system to include these dates. Tonight I am unable to even get a quote for Dec 2008. All I get now is:

We did not find any rooms available at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for the dates you specified. (We checked a few other Resorts as well.) Please change your travel dates or your Resort selection and try again.

Note that I was searching more than one resort to see if it was just the Contemporary which is fly that says GF. Hopefully the rates will be up soon!

GAH I was just allowed to get a quote again and still no regular rooms.

EDIT: They seem to really be having issues right now. It sometimes is suggesting the Poly because there are no rooms available in the CR. It sometimes says it cannot be processed. It sometimes processes only to fail once I click on a different room.

Walt Disney Travel Company (WDTC) generally only takes calls from travel agents. If CRO is slammed with calls and a WDTC agent is available the call will roll over to them, but never the other way around.

What days?

I randomly pulled up December 14-15 2008 and got all the rates.

Garden Stand: 320
Garden Deluxe: 345
Tower Bay Lake: 380
Tower Theme Park: 410

That's all before tax.
