What IS Pop Warner Football?

I confess ignorance. We are a couple in our 30s and don't have kids. I know it's a kids football thing, but does this mean the kids will be in the parks all day or are they there to play in tournaments or ???

Pop Warner's effect on the parks is pretty minimal. They do however have a fairly profound effect on the value resorts (in particular All Star Sports). As you can imagine when you put a bunch of competitive kids together with minimal supervision things can get a little rowdy.

I think you're being extremely generous in your description, but I'll leave it at that.

You know me...I'm a giver.:D

Personally, I have never run into an issue and I hate to give a bad review to a movie that I have never seen (so to speak), but with last year's problems were undeniably bad. Even though I did not personally witness it the incident, the newspaper reports were enough for me. I imagine that this year they will be kept on a rather short leash.

We’ve had serious behavior problems at past Pop Warner Super Bowls at WALT
DISNEY WORLD®. This note gives you and your participants, young & old,
players & coaches, parents & fans fair warning that such problems have not been
tolerated in the past, and certainly will not be tolerated this year.
Every Pop Warner Association is accountable for its players, cheerleaders,
coaches, administrators, parents and others from your area at all Regional and
National events. Any incidents of unacceptable behavior from any person(s)
affiliated in any way with your Association will mean:
  • A possible immediate ejection from the Pop Warner Super Bowl
events and WALT DISNEY WORLD® property. THE ENTIRE
TEAM/SQUAD ROOM BLOCK, WHICH INCLUDES EVERYONE
BOOKED WITH THE TEAM, MAY BE EVICTED, AND MAY FORFEIT
HOTEL AND OTHER DEPOSITS. Revised air reservations/ ticket
payments will be your problem, not ours nor Disney’s.
  • Possible lifetime ban from Disney World.
AN AUTOMATIC PROHIBITION FROM ALL REGIONAL AND
NATIONAL EVENTS FOR ALL TEAMS/SQUADS FROM THAT
    ASSOCIATION FOR ONE FULL SEASON.
  • Possible suspension and/or probation from coaching or administering
    in Pop Warner.

They definitely do NOT want a repeat of last year. It was a PR nightmare for PW and WDW.

I don't disagree one bit with Disney kicking everyone out. If you can't keep your kids in line, then get out. Yeah, it sucks for those that weren't involved, but what is Disney to do?

Here's the problem - To Pop Warner, Disney is just another place to play a football game. They could care less about the other people vacationing there. As it is, I'd be happy if Disney never let PW back onto property.

It's a shame. I LOVE the All Star Resorts, and used to stay there all the time. After one nightmare week a few years back from the bubblehead cheerleaders and jock players, we won't stay there anymore.

I was there last year 11/28-12/3/07 and had no idea anyone was kicked out.

We were staying at Pop and I did notice the increase of kids over the weekend. They made the parks seem busier and it was definately a little rowdier at night at the resort. On Saturday night my 16 year old daugher wanted to go to get hot chocolate - we were staying in the building with Lady right outside our door. Anyway, she called to tell me 3 boys in football jerseys were following her all over the food court and when she walked outside they followed as well and started saying suggestive things. I told her to go back inside the food court and wait for me. My Dad ended up going instead and they scattered as soon as he showed up.

The year before we were staying at Caribbean Beach and were eating dinner in their food court one night, when the place was over run by football players. They were loading up their trays with food and drink and then running to tables to sit together to eat. No problem right? Except, not a one of them went thru the line to PAY for their food. It was quite a fiasco when the coaches finally showed up and had to foot the bill.

Other than seeing the young cheerleaders chanting in the parks, they did not affect us to much.

Some will say the cheerleaders who complete in the Spring as 10 times worse, but I honestly don't remember any of them being evicted. I probably missed that story as well :lookaroun

The cheerleaders tend to be more of an annoyance in the parks but they generally do not do things that will get them evicted from WDW. They do however do things in the parks that will make even the most calm and rational person want to punch a 14 year old girl in the face.

Ugh, the cheerleaders.

No lie - Never rented a car at Disney until last year. After spending a week listening to the annoying cheerleaders chant, sing, and talk about how cute Billy is, or like, if you know, like Matthew liked her, like, we'd like, had enough. It was like, the last time, we would ever totally like, go to Disney without a car. Like, why do they have to do their cheers on the buses? Like, really. Like, can't they try and respect other people.

Totally.

We actually enjoyed the Brasilian kids in January 2006. My husband is from San Paulo so he had fun talking to them, and for the most part, they were well-behaved and friendly. Only once did we hear any "chanting" and it was only a few kids walking through Liberty Square.
