What is in a room?

I'll be staying at a Disney resort for the first time in three weeks. I'll be at the All Star Movies resort. I just wanted to know what a room comes with. I know there are two beds, a tv, a drawer, table, bathroom, etc. But is there an alarm clock? What about soap, shampoo, towels? Or should I bring all these myself? (I don't travel much.)

It's been a few years since I stayed at the All-Stars, but the last time I was there, they had shampoo and shower gel dispensers mounted in the shower. You shouldn't need to bring your own shampoo and soap if that is still the case. There were alarm clocks in the rooms, but I always do the wake up call. The last few times I was there, it was Goofy who calls and wakes you up.

The All Stars are great! You'll have to make time to just walk around the 3 All Star Resorts late at night. It is a great time to check out the themeing and it's all lit up. Have a wonderful time!

Oh, one more thing....There are towels in the room, but you might want to ask Housekeeping to bring you extra towels. Those are nice to have on hand in case you want to take a mid-day shower to cool off.

Two double beds. A few rooms (very few) have a king.

Towels and wash cloths, yep:D Ask for extras for the pool as there are no towels at the pool.

Soap and shampoo are in a dispenser in the tub/shower.

No iron or hair dryer. You can ask housekeeping for them and if they are not all out you can get them.

You can get a refrigerator for $10.60 a night:eek: What a rip. The things must cost about $70 or less and hum, $10 a night (plus tax) if they rent them a third of the year they get $1000.

I've stayed at Movies twice but not in the summer. There will be lots and lots of kids. I stayed on the third floor both times to escape the running feet overhead.

Enjoy your trip. Stayed at Music also. Same except I like the Movies atmosphere more.

You can go to All Ears (www.wdwig.com) and get more details on the rooms etc.:)

As Merlin said they also have a clock radio. :) I also backed that up with a wake up call.

You are so sweet Vin! :)

There are towels in your room, since you will be travelling alone, you should have two (double room for yourself) big ones and a few others for hands and face. There are hangers in the room´s closet.

Last time I was in a room at the All Stars, I remember it had an ironing board, laundry bag, and I think, but not sure, there was a coffee maker (?)... I think I also saw a safe dposit box in the closet, but don´t quote me on that one.

Shampoo and soap are in almost all hotels, but I would carry my own if I were you... I don´t like the shampoos provided by hotels, so I carry the one I use at home.

There is a phone in your room too, so if there is no alarm clock, you can always bug the operator and ask what time it is or ask for a wake up call... hehe ;) I am almost positive there is an alarm clock in the All Stars though.

Stop worrying! (I bet you started packing today after Jerry´s comment in the PML, huh? :animwink:

I was there last year and will be again this year. They still have the shampoo & body wash dispenser in the showers and a bar of soap at the sink. There are towels and a safe. Ther is also a little table near the door that is a great catch all.

They also have laundry facilities down by the pool. Here's a tip: Bring some laundry detergent in a small container (i.e. an empty Aquafina bottle or something). It's much cheaper than purchasing detergent at the guest laundry area.

You are going to love All Stars! We have stayed at Music three times now and although it's not the Beach Club (our favorite) it's a great place to stay cheap!! The rooms are spacious and there is a safe in the wall along with an alarm clock, coffee maker and plenty of towels. I prefer to bring my own soap and shampoo because I don't like the one in the shower dispenser but if you are not fussy it works!! The pool is great and the bar is an overlooked fun spot. The food court is also great and don't forget the awesome shop!! Have a ball.:sohappy: :sohappy:

from 1 girl to another---

The shampoo and body wash are a combo deal-- meaning you wash your hais and body with the same stuff. At least it was that way last time I was there in April... And I'm not into that... I like my own shampoo. Just go buy little travel bottles for a buck at the dollar store and pour enough in for your trip! Have fun!

No coffee maker at the All Stars:(

A word about the safe-Small:eek: About the size of a tissue box so don't plan on putting the crown jewels in it.:D

I love the Movies food court.:sohappy: Buy a refillable mug and fill it to your hearts content:D

There is a safe, soap and shampoo dispensers, a clock, NO coffee maker, we also got bars of facial soap which can be used in the shower too if you prefer.

The safe is for money and jewelry storage mainly (tickets, and other valuable thin items you may have).

Since I went to WDW just a few months after 9/11, I decided that transporting a "white powdery substance" that wasn't in its original container was not a good idea.

I took laundry soap tablets (I think they were made by Purex) instead.

However, when I got to Wilderness Lodge, I discovered that the front-loading washers only required 2 TABLESPONS of detergent. It was, however, easy enough to break one in half.

(sorry--I don't know if All Stars has front or top loaders)

The laundry rooms are near the pool so you can do your laundry and chill by the pool. Buy a refillable mug and grab a book and lay out while you do your laundry. Get some detergent, liquid works, they are top loading washers and front loading dryers along the back wall. Use more then one dryer for one load of washer...it's faster. The laundry supplies in the machines in the laundry room are expensive. Bring some dryer sheets too. A pillowcase makes a great tote to the laundry room.

The rooms aren't huge, but they are nice. There is a bag for laundry...plastic and small intended for sending it out. Keep in mind even at the All-Stars you can send your purchases to your room for the parks or DTD.

If you want to sit quietly by the pool, go to the smaller pool, not the main pool by the food court. These ones are always packed.

There is a small store in the front of the hotels. CHeck all 3 hotel stores out, they have 3 different themes and different merchandise. Also, things like milk etc can be found there.

There is a small wall safe, fits a wallet, park tickets etc. Anything bigger ask at the front desk. They do have somewhere bigger with not as easy access.

Of course the norm is there, towels, soap and shampoo dispensers (yuck bring your own), TV with remote, alarm clock and a table with 2 chairs. (Small)

You'll love it there.

Which All-Star are you at? When? I'll be at sports this Sunday - the 20th. We'd love to show you around them if you don't want to venture off alone.

They don't send your purchases to your room anymore
:(
They send it to the hotel gift shop and you pick it up there:D

Still beats carrying the stuff around all day:cool:

Really???? We didn't get to go last year, but the year before they still sent them to our room. Interesting. Thanks for letting me know. I leave in a few days and wouldn't have known until I got there.

Hi Careship:wave:

I didn't know either till my December trip.

I guess that's all part of cost cutting:( Cheaper to send dozens of items to the hotel gift shop than to have them delivered to each room.

I went in March and May also and it was still delivery to the gift shop.

It's still better then lugging them around everywhere. Seeing as I have boys old enough to do the running for me, it still works out. They can deliver to the room from the gift shop for me.
