what is DVC all about??

many people have asked me and alot of others on the forums whats DVC all about this thread is to let them know what its all about and i'll try and make it short as possible.

DVC is simalar to timeshares and different at the same time.
DVC is similar because you buy into a certian hotel that is DVC affilated now it would be Saratoga for the new buyers this means its your home base.
DVC is different because they work by points the points allow you to go whenever and for however long you want not like a timeshare where its a week and thats it and you have to take a week somewhere or you loose it. at DVC there is no loosing your points the unused points you would bank into the next year so you can use them for you next Disney Vacation.
The Home Base attvantage is this which is always fun to have if you stay at your home base you can call till the last minute to make the reservation not like at other places or if you trade to another DVC resort it has to be within 7 months of check out. the home base attvantage also works if you can't get in anywhere else you will more than likely get into your home base (unless you go during the busy seasons then don't count on alot).

well i hope that helps :sohappy:

The points can be used at Hilton Head, Vero Beach and Disney Cruise Line. The points can also be used at thousands of destinations throughout the world.

As for being able to make reservations for resorts that are not considered home, the reservations cannot be made before 7 months prior to checking out, but for your home resort you can make reservation 11 months out which nobody else outside ownership can. This gives you the chance to be able to get holiday or busy season reservations before it opens to the general public.

DVC & Saratga Springs forever!!!!:sohappy:

thanks for repeating everything i said above but the thing about home base and non is that you can call for a hotel like a month to when you want to go and get in but not somewhere else but thats the beauty of having it as your home you can also call for it months before everyone else too.
but the one thing about the criuse to hilton head or vero is that hilton head and vero are cheaper than even disney and actually this past year we used it to switch off to go to vegas for a week and that was cheaper but the cruise is highest in points along with going somewhere else on the disney property that is not DVC. which kills b/c i so want to do polynesian

Ok, here is one thing I really like about DVC: As good as the rooms and resorts are at normal WDW Deluxe resort, DVC are better!!!!!!!! (even the studios, that cost the least amount of points.)

I also like that with DVC (and AP) we were able to afford 3 trips in 10 months, of course we now have to take 16 months off to build up points and save money (oh yes and have another child, small detials.)

I also like that you can stay at WDW quailty resorts, but not have to visist WDW (Hilton Head, Vero Beach and many other 5 star hotels.) However the other resorts have an addtional 75$ charge and aren't as easy to book, but we keep going back to WDW anyway.

As a DVC member other people seem to understand more why we keep going back "Oh they have DVC, that makes sense!"

Oh another good thing, check out bill with a big ZERO for room rates, only what you chraged to the room.

I could keep going, but I won't bore you any more. We love DVC, it was a really good choice for us.
