What if future PotC films did not have Keira Knightley?

Keeptothecode.com reports that there are rumors circulating the internet that Keira Knightley will not participate in any other pirates films beyond the original trilogy movies because she wants to take a break from the rigourous film making process.

But keeptothecode.com also says that this may be fake because another rumor said Orlando Bloom's character, Will Turner, will die in the third film, and a company who works with Disney to promote the film said in an e-mail that, although they can not talk about specific plot points, this is certainly not true.

Regardless whether the rumor is true or not, do you think they would really go on without Keira Knightley and/or Orlando Bloom?

I personally think they couldn't go on without at least two of three main characters (Capt. Jack, Will, and Elizabeth). All three characters are important to the plots. I think Will Turner is a good character and I love Keira Knightley.

What do you all think?:veryconfu  :xmas:

I wouldn't be happy if the 3 main characters didn't come back. I would still watch the movies if they continue to make them, but it would be weird. I hope it's a rumor just like the Orlando Bloom one...

It's just like with the Harry Potter movies. I hope none of the main characters leave. I mean, I have a hard time with the new Dumbeldore.

You get so used to these characters and fall in love with them...but when they leave it's heat breaking and sometimes hard to watch movies without them.

I'd be sad if Keira left because her character is really growing and I love her new pirateyness.

But I'd like to see more of Anamaria and Tia Dalma, too, for alternate female pirates. Tia Dalma needs to loose the icky makeup though because the actress is really beautiful.

She also needs to speak more clearly, sometimes I can't understand what she's saying.

They wouldn't even make it if Keira wouldn't come back. That just makes it have failiure written all over it. Plus I think a fourth movie would be unwanted overkill. Besides, I'm pretty sure that the Will Turner dieing thing was just a rumor started by Jack/ Elizabeth shippers.

It depends on what direction the series takes.

If they start doing a prequel series (like Star Wars) with the old Jack and Barbossa best mate days, Knightley won't be needed or the character Elizabeth would need a new actor to play a younger role (hope to god, not Dakota Fanning).

If the series goes on where the third leaves off, Pirates will certaintly lose a key role.

Nothertheless, no matter which direction Pirates goes after the 3rd movie, I'm sure Pirates will still be a success and make great films although it might mean a movie and media overkill for us fans.

Or... they could introduce a new set of characters for a second trilogy, stay true to the Pirates universe without having to rely soley on the performance of one person. I would love for the this trilogy to be considered "The Sparrow Trilogy" and if they do decide to do more create all new characters and situations, and possibly tie little aspects of each trilogy together.

Pirates will work without Jack Sparrow. I would love to see a new set of characters.

I'd say that Jack Sparrow is the key character to box office success. There are plenty of pretty actresses and actors around to take over the eye candy roles, but they may have a harder time with Jack Sparrow when Johnny Depp decides to move on - in which case a new set of characters with an established actor playing the new lead Pirate would be called for.

That would be great! Especially if we see more from characters like Davy Jones, Barbossa, Tia Dalma (the presence of these characters would tie everything together).

There's lots of stuff they can take from to make a spin-off movie.

Heck a movie just about Davy Jones would be interesting.

Either in the near future or distant one...I'm betting we'll see more than three pirates movies.

I could not care less about Keira or Orlando leaving the franchise... Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow are critical. Johnny's Captain Jack is 100% for the success of these movies... I can't wait until May for AWE.

I would love to see some prequels... I am quite curious about his relationship with Tia Dalma--the only woman that is happy to see him and doesnt slap him!

Now I like the Will Turner and Eliz. Swann characters...but they are not essential to the success of future films. ANYONE can have chemistry with Captain Jack!!!!

Anyhow--I am a way huge Captain Jack fan... if he comes back...I will be there opening night every time!!!

I could see a prequel. However, I think what would be best is if they had Kiera and Orlando's characters have minor involvement in the additional films. The diegesis stays consistent if you keep the actors in the films, but their characters don't need to be as dynamic... or perhaps some other characters become more prevalent than they are now.

I personally think they still need the Will and Elizbeth characters. What about all the things they need to do with their characters, like their relationships and Bootstrap Bill.?

The story isn't just about Jack Sparrow.
The original Pirates ("Curse of the Black Pearl") wasn't intended to be a story about Jack Sparrow, he just happened to become really popular.
