Yeah, I know, I’m making another thread so soon after my last one, but here I’ll be sharing my ideas for a Disney racing game, using basing it off of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe/Tour. This racing game is somewhat of an alternate version of the upcoming Disney Speedstorm game, but it also serves as a spiritual successor of the N64 racing game Mickey’s Speedway USA, except with tracks based on environments from Disney movies.

I was partially inspired by a YouTube series that is doing this to Smash Bros.
For this first post, I will provide the list of characters and what Mario character they will be similar to (I will also explain my reasoning for character choices, I will have a counterpart for every unique character that has been playable in the Mario Kart series, currently the list is not finished)

Mario: Mickey Mouse (This one is really obvious, as both are recognizable main characters in their respective universes)

Luigi: Goofy (I was almost tempted to put Donald here, but Goofy has traits that are similar to Luigi [Goofy is clumsy, Luigi is a scaredy-cat, both are allies to the main character] and Donald fits a different character more)

Peach: Minnie Mouse (Both are the love interests to the main characters, and both wear mostly pink clothing)

Yoshi: Pluto (Both sidekicks to the main characters, and they are animalistic [Pluto is a dog, Yoshi has horse-like features])

Toad: Chip/Dale (They would share a character slot in game, both are petit characters)

Donkey Kong: King Louie (Both are ape characters that are antiheroes)

Wario: Donald Duck (Both are jerks with hearts of gold, Wario is money-loving while Donald has a money-loving relative [almost went with Scrooge for Wario, but that almost made Donald Luigi and Goofy Waluigi])

Bowser: Pete (Both rival/antagonistic characters for the main characters)

Daisy: Daisy Duck (Besides sharing a name, both are friends to the other main female characters)

Waluigi: Gonzo (Both have ambiguous origins, are purple/blue, and do crazy things)

(more to be added later)

Part Two:

Donkey Kong Jr: Winnie the Pooh (This seems kinda random since they have no similar traits, but there is still an outlier in this roster)

Koopa Troopa: Kermit The Frog (both green and reptiles/amphibians)

Birdo: Stitch (Both are ”strange“ characters with weird origin stories)

Baby Mario: Hewey/Dewey/Louie (The triplets take one character slot, they are both young characters)

Baby Luigi: Jiminy Cricket (Both green, that’s about it)

Paratroopa: Dumbo (Both fly, this was tough)

Diddy Kong: Baloo (although different species, they are “allies” with characters from their respective series)

Bowser Jr: Roger Rabbit (both are wacky and use paintbrushes)

Toadette: Ariel (both have multiple “forms”)

Petey Piranha: Oogie Boogie (both are big, green, and villains)

King Boo: Jack Skellington (both are white and have relations to ghosts)

Dry Bones: Animal (only relation is that he is from the same series as Kermit)

R.O.B: WALL-E (both robots)

Shy Guy: Bruno Magidrel (both hide their faces)

Baby Peach: Tinker Bell (both are small and female)

Baby Daisy: Woody (very random, both are orange I guess?)

Rosalina: Elsa (both wear cyan dresses and are popular)

Funky Kong: Wreck-it-Ralph (would be the “broken” character similar to FK in Wii, they kinda look similar)

Dry Bowser: Chernabog (both evil villain characters)

Mii: Mii/Xbox Avatar/Walt Disney (game would be on multiple platforms, in systems without avatars, they are replaced with Walt Disney, who is a human like a Mii)

Stay tuned for part 3!

Time for the next part!

Honey Queen: Snow White (Both royalty involved with nature)

Metal Mario: Sorcerer Mickey (Powered-up versions of main characters)

Wiggler: Tigger (Have similar names, and are unique)

Lakitu: Russell (Both vaguely involved with the sky)

Baby Rosalina: Buzz Lightyear (Both involved with space, meant to be a counterpart to Woody/Baby Daisy)

The Koopalings: Ursula, Evil Queen, Gaston, Hades, Maleficent, Captain Hook, Dr. Facilier (I personally don’t like them taking up seven character slots, so I just replaced the Koopalings with villains because they are bosses, these villains are separate characters as well)

Pink Gold Peach: Aurora (Both wear pink)

Link: Hercules (both are warriors)

Villager: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (Another random inclusion that was chosen)

Isabelle: Dug (both are yellow dogs)

Inkling: Inside Out Emotions (All characters are “colorful”)

Peachette: Clarabelle (Both are female characters similar to other main characters)

Pauline: Anna (both have red/orange color schemes and are princess-like)

Hammer Bro: Kronk (both iconic villain henchmen)

Monty Mole: Fozzie Bear (both have similar color schemes)

Captain Toad: Launchpad McQuack (both are “adventurer” characters)

Dixie Kong: Mei Lee (both are “furry”)

Nabbit: Robin Hood (both are thieves)

King Bob-omb: Mike Wazowski (both are round characters)

Kamek: Merlin (both are blue and use magic)

Chargin’ Chuck: Sulley (both are big and strong)

And that‘s the entire base roster! It has a lot of diversity amongst many Disney franchises, from classic to modern, with both heroes and villains, males and females, Disney, Pixar, and Muppets, and even a deceased person.

Sometime in the future tracks will be discussed.

I believe there is already a Mario Kart-like game with Mickey and the gang. It's called "Mickey's Speedway USA", for the Nintendo 64:

In this game, Pluto has been dognapped by a bunch of weasels who want Pluto for his collar which is supposedly covered in diamonds, which turn out to be fake. In order to get his dog back, Mickey and his friends supposedly to beat the weasels in a series of races across the country. Actually, you never actually race the weasels, but rather Mickey and friends (and Pete, who invited himself along for the search) race one another in a series of cartoonish renderings of various locations in the U.S.

I forgot about that games’ existence, this Disney racing game is different in that it features characters and tracks from multiple other IPs, I might include the tracks from this game as retro tracks similar to how Mario Kart Super Circuit has the tracks from Super Mario Kart

Tracks:

In this game, there are 15 new tracks in 3 cups, and one bonus new track unlocked after beating the 15 main tracks, slighty similar to how tracks are organized in the original Super Mario Kart. The 20 main tracks from Mickey’s Speedway USA (the N64 version) return as retro tracks, they get remastered visuals and music.

Dream Cup:

Toontown Hills: A simple course taking place in Mickey’s Toontown.

Andy’s Bedroom: Themed to Toy Story, race around toys and jump on a Pixar Ball!

Muppet Studio: A track where you careen around set pieces for different Muppet shorts, you have to drive through some!

Elsa’s Ice Palace: This track is slightly similar to the ice mountain tracks from Mario Kart where you go up and then down, you race to Elsa’s Palace and then drive down back to Arendelle.

The Jungle: A track that is themed to many Disney films set in jungles, such as Up and the Jungle Book.

Wonder Cup:

Monstropolis: Themed to the location from Monsters Inc, it features segments where you go though Boo’s room and glide down a door!

Hundred Acre Wood: A bouncy track themed to Winnie the Pooh.

Pride Rock: Drive up and by this famous rock in a track where you are racing to be the king!

Atlantica: Go underwater and explore Ariel’s kingdom.

Radiator Springs: Yes, there‘s a Cars themed track in a racing game, you are speed as you pass by famous locations from the film.

Magic Cup:

Ancient Greece: A track themed to Hercules, where you race around Greek gods, some of them aren’t nice!

Casita: Experience the wonders of Encanto as you go through a strange track based on the Madrigal Family’s home.

Lahui Beach: This track brings the atmospheres of Hawaii and space together as you drive on a beach with aliens that aren’t quite like Stitch.

Chinatown: Themed to Mulan and Turning Red, drive through bustling streets of this China-inspired marketplace.

Bald Mountain: The hardest track of the game, driving this track is like being in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice section of Fantasia!

If you have gotten gold Mickey trophies in all base game tracks and have beaten the game’s story mode, you will unlock the last track in the game!

Disneyland: The longest track in the game, drive through the Disneyland Resort and many of its famous attractions across both Disneyland and DCA.

The next post will be detailing the story mode, then other game modes, and finally we will be talking about the DLC! Stay tuned for updates coming in the future.

Interesting wonder what you plan to do next after this?
Are you talking about this?

I shouldn’t say what I’m doing next since it might ruin the surprise, but the story mode will include boss fights and the DLC will involve other IPs that are owned by Disney

I meant an another like a Smash Bros style game.
Probably not because this is supposed to be an experimental game concept, and I’m currently not really interested in making more games like this, this idea (and all of my other ones) just came to me, I miiiiiiighhht do another Disney game if I have a good idea and if I have time, though, but it won’t be Smash Bros, since I don’t want to copy Ediz and Ben, whose series on a Disney Smash Bros game based on the original roster kinda inspired this kart racing concept

Since I don’t really feel like continuing this project, I’m just gonna run down the remainder of my ideas for this.

Story mode would involve unlocking characters similar to Smash Bros, and racing against villains/bosses similar to Diddy Kong Racing

Game modes would include Grand Prix, time trial, story mode, online mode, multiplayer, and a battle mode similar to Mario Kart’s

DLC would add Marvel and Star Wars characters, there would also be new tracks and a new side story involving those characters
