What happened to the Drumming Porcupine in Splash Mountain?

I haven't been to WDW in a few weeks but the last several times I've been to MK over the past couple of months the drumming porcupine that sings the "counter melody" (time to be turnin' around) has been gone. His audio is also gone.

Anybody know why or know if he is coming back. I had never seen him broken and he didn't look like a complicated AA that would need a major overhaul.

His lyrics were part of the great details of Splash. He adds much more to the experience than the running Brer Rabbit (which coincidentally has worked most of the recent times I've ridden).

I can't really offer a definitive answer to your question, but I've noticed some slight changes to Splash on different occasions when I've gone.

For instance, on the first day of my trip last year, Brer Frog was fishing on the back of the crocodile about halfway through the ride. Two days later, he was gone from the croc, and moved to a location near the end of the ride.

Sometimes I have heard the weasel cry "FSU", on the more recent trip, he didn't say anything.

Anyone have an idea what's going on?

Well, typically, when audio-animatronic figures are missing, that means that they had to be taken away temporarily to get repaired.

And if you don't hear a specific sound, it could mean that it's broken.

And WDWFigment, Brer Frog was always in the finale. The one on sitting on the crocodile was just gone temporarily for repairs. They didn't move him to another scene.

Ahh, so that explains it, I just wasn't observant enough. Here I thought there was some visual gag played by the CMs to make the ride a little unique each time. Well, thank you for giving me the real explanation!

Brer Porcupine has been back since at least last Tuesday (the 17th). He's one of my favorite characters in the ride, so I was really disappointed when he wasn't around for so long. But worry no longer - he is back, singing and drumming on that turtle as before.

I hope the Porcupine comes back he was one of my favorite characters to look at.

He is one of my favorites too. I also like the turtles that are laying on their backs laughing. They are laughing because the water is splashing up on them keeping them up in the air.
