What ever happened to seeing Mickey Mouse waving goodbye to guests at night?

For those that visited the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World alot in the past. Who else remember leaving the park at night after Wishes and seeing Mickey Mouse waving goodbye to guests leaving the park at night? I remember first seeing this in 2004 for my first trip. I thought I was hearing things, but I later heard my mom say "Quick turn around!" and I saw Mickey Mouse waving and saying a few final messages to local visitors and tourists that visited the park. As a result, that finally turned the water works on for me and made me realized this is my final day. I was bummed out when I left the Magic Kingdom in 2006 which was my second trip. I didn't see Mickey waving at guests that year. So am I the only person who remembers seeing this happen at the Magic Kingdom? Because I remember this being very common in the early 2000's but I can barely find any videos of that. The last time I seen any Disney park do this was at Disneyland Paris in 2008.

Here's a video from closing hours at Disneyland Paris

I wonder if Walt Disney World still does that? Especially since Mickey Mouse began talking with guests starting in 2010, this would make a perfect opportunity for this to become a thing again. It's one of those special moments that sticks with you forever.

I remember this in the past, but I haven't watched Wishes for a while since we live here. They also used to have cast members from every nation at Epcot waving goodbye after Illuminations too.

I remember seeing Wishes again in 2006, but Mickey wasn't out. I guess it happens at random similar to Scuba Mickey in Epcot.

That brought back sad and happy memories from my first trip back in 2004. They should use the Talking Mickey Mouse in the future.

They did this at that closed off event about a month ago for the TA's or whatever organization it was. It was an invite-only night. I remember seeing pictures of the parade floats being stopped around the circle by the train station (exit) and the characters were on their floats and Mickey was up on the balcony waving to the lucky ones that got to be there as they were headed out.

I remember seeing a short clip of Mickey and Minnie waving at the leaving guests from the private event. Which also had the Doorknob interacting with guests.

It had just about EVERYTHING out at the HM... parasol girl, the dancers, the good caretakers, etc... Lots of other fun M&G's all over the place.

I havent seen Mickey saying goodnight to guests, but have had multiple CM's with the mickey gloves waving goodnight and wishing everyone safe travels home. Doesnt upset me until that final MK park visit and the ultimate last goodbye.
