I think he'd say competition is good.... it leads to a higher quality product

He probably would have forged a professional relationship with them to develop the best technology possible.
It's alot cheaper to design and develop in a goup than to do it all alone.
I think Walt would have realized that and the industry would be even more advanced now than it is. Not so much of this "Us vs. Them" stuff.....

The secret to that success is......Walt and the Imagineering Department would have known how to better apply the newly developed technoligies much better than the others who worked on it with him.
After all, Walt has the Disney Characters to magically bring the advancements to life!

I don't think that WDW has any competition. No one in the world could possibly be better! I think Walt wouldn't think twice about anyone else because he would know that WDW is the king of all theme parks.:king:

"I have been up against tough competition all my life. I wouldn't know how to get along without it." -Walt Disney

there, he just answered your question lol

but I have to agree with that quote, I wouldn;t be who I am today without tough competition. They say there is always soneone better than you no matter what you do...well I think we know WDW is the best out there anyway, but Walt always strived for more and more...his competition just made him stronger and still would today! I think that should go for all of us :)

I don't think they compete either. They feed off of one another. Universal came to Orlando to take advantage of the vacationers that came to WDW, not to shut them down. Without WDW Universal Orlando would not do well where it is. WDW would still survive without Universal though, they did it for years. But I am sure there are a small percentage of people who go to WDW because they came to see Universal and figured while I am here.

I said a small percentage.

Well yeah, personally I think there is tons of competition between the 2...In a way, it's not a bad thing because iot keeps both stronger in their own way...of course WDW will always be strongest and most memorable and magical...but yes, they do compete...sometimes as sad as it is, it boils down to money and who is "taking it away" from the other one...guests too...i know tons of people who go to WDW, but who also go to Universal...which is fair and everything, get the best of both worlds, literetally...but as i said befoire, i KNOW Walt would welcome it as friendly and normal compettion which everyone needs to keep going and striving farther.

I do agree that it is all money driven and they do want to be considered better than each other. I just don't think that either is worried about one taking away their guests.

well about the guest thing, i was more or less reffering to disney on that one. every time i ever say "universal" in D-World...a cast member or even another guest is always like,"ahhh, you said the bad word!" lol and just things like that...i guess they arent "worried" about it...they just look at it as disney guests vacationing in another theme park...i think thats what i meant to say...either way, it makes sense :)

I don't think there is really much of anything in Florida that Walt would have considered to be serious competition. However, there are two attractions that I'll bet would have impressed him:

1. Universal Studios - Some of you might jump on me for this, but I've always referred to Universal Studios Florida as "what Disney/MGM would have looked like if Walt were still alive". What I mean by that is the look, layout and attention to detail of this park. MGM has better attractions, no question about that. But I've never really thought that it was layed out in any kind of logical sense or flow. Other than the fact that you have a Hollywood Blvd and a Sunset Blvd, there don't really seem to be clear and distinct themed areas. Universal, by contrast, seems very logically layed out (similar to Epcot, actually, in that it largely surrounds a huge lake which makes it very easy to sort of look across and see where each of the "lands" or sections are). I especially love how it ingeniously blends from one section to the next, almost seamlessly. Universal also has much greater attention to detail. Especially in the New York section, there are little hidden away nooks where you can walk down an alley and explore all the details. I think Walt would have loved that. His advisors used to try and get him to use more areas of Disneyland for gift shops and carts. And he refused because he wanted guests to "discover" little hidden things (i.e. Snow White's Grotto near the Castle).

2. Discovery Cove - That little park next to Sea World where they limit attendance and you can swim with dolphins. I think Walt would have considered that an innovative and unique idea.
