what do you skip?

Ok, we have never bothered with the big riverboat cruise at Magic Kingdom. But I guess thats because we have the real things nearby. But I was just curious if its something great that we are missing out on. We will be going with 5 kids this year...2,5,8,12 & 15. I am just about positive we wont get the older two (boys) on this ride but is it something we should take the girls on? Also are there any things you always skip? This seems to be the only thing we have skipped everytime.
By the way is Dinosaur at AK the exact same as it was when it was Countdown to Extinction??? thanks

I always skip the Swiss Family Robinsons Tree House, The Riverboat, and most of the "kiddie" rides in fantasyland. In Epcot lately I have been skipping the Living Seas, THe Mexico Ride, and the Movies in Canada, France and Norway.

We usually skip anything where you have to stand or climb: Timekeeper, Canada pavillion movie, Swiss Family Tree House, Tom Swayer's Island, although the kids seem to love the Island, Indiana Jones show unless you haven't seen it, we think it is getting old, needs to be updated, Toon Town unless we walk through to catch the train, although very small children love this area. If you need a rest catch the Train in MK at one point and ride it around until you feel refreshed enough to carry on and get off at a different point. Conservation Station at AK, although the train ride to Conservation Station is nice we found it a waste of time.

when i go i usually skip nothing unless the lines are to long for a ride,i haven't seen the movies in the countries lately but that's just because of time restraints, and unfortunately my sister won't let me skip the living seas, also you shold go on the riverboat if you haven't already it has some nice scenery plus it's a nice way to cool off and relax, also sometimes there are characters on the boat with you

You know, I don't think I've ever been on it either, for the same reason too!

Only thing I go out of my way to skip is Country Bear Jamboree, I've seen it ENOUGH times when I was younger........

And I try to skip everything in AK except for the big 4!

I'm Surrounded by Idiots
When i went the last time i skipped all of the countries in Epcot and The Hall Of Presidents at the Magic Kindom. I really don't like the attractions that are just movies especially the ones in 3D.

I try not to miss anything but when time is limited I skip Ellen's Energy Adventure and the movies in France, Canada and China. Norway is about the only movie in Epcot that I always see(could it be the 10 minute wait until they open the theatre so you can exit the ride??)

There is nothing too exciting to see on the river boat. Just some props on the island an stuff.

At MK I always skip Country Bear Jambourie because I saw it enought when I was a kid. I also skip Toon Town unless you are dying to see Mickey. Swiss Family Treehouse and Speedway I skip too.

At Epcot I stay clear of Living Seas (waste of time), most country movies, and only visit Universe of Energy when I've seen everything else... at least 3 times. This ride puts me to sleep.

At the Studios I skip the Backlot Tour, Indy, and 1 or 2 stage shows. Voyage of the Little Murmaid and Fantasmic have the best effects.

At AK it's hard to find things. I've missed several things by mistake because I didn't know where I was. I went to Rafiki's Planet Watch (previously called Conservation Station) and was very disapointed it turned out to be a petting zoo with goats and pigs. I thought it wasted my time standing in line for the train and then hiking the trail to get to the building. I probablp won't go back out there again unless there is a new attraction or a show is playing.

I rode the riverboat for the first time my last trip. The only thing I can say for it is I got some good video, since it's a good view of the Mansion and Thunder Mtn from the top deck. But I'd think the kids would be bored.
Other skips: Hall of Presidents (I prefer American Adventure), Snow White (depending on age, too scary or too dull for the wait).

Lame stuff I don't skip: Small World (you have to see this, right?) and Tiki Room (an original classic) and yes, the Treehouse (only because it's usually the first attraction and signifies we've just made it to Disney World!)

I ususally skip the Riverboat as well as CBJ at the MK and at EPCOT we typically pass on all the countries movies.

If we only had more time (don't we all wish).

I've been on the riverboat tour. It's long and boring.

Dinosaur is no different from Countdown to Extinction. The only difference is the sign in front of the ride.

I agree with everyone. The riverboat will bore the kiddies. But if you get a chance to get away and have some extra time on your hands try to get a seat on the top deck if it is sunny and enjoy the time off your feet in the sunshine (if it is not too hot).

To your quetion about AK Countdown, I believe it is the exact same ride, just different name. I wasn't there when it was called dinosaur but the description of the ride under both names is the same. :)

I went in 2000 and hated Countdown To Extinction, but went back this past September and loved it.

I remember that it used to be darker. What I mean was that I couldn't see half the stuff you do now. They must have put some more lights in it since the name change because all I remember from 2000 was that you rode around in the dark for a while then the lights come up on something. Does that now too but you can see more.

Well I guess I skip a lot, just because my family usually spends about 5 days at most, which is not enough time at WDW anymore, which means I skip a lot, too many to put down, but i try to do as much as again, while repeating my favorite rides. Some rides I go out of my way to skip: Indy raceway, Astro-orbiter, most of Fantasyland (lines are WAY WAY too long), and for that matter anything with over a 45 min wait that is not a REALLY good thrill or classic ride, Living Seas, Camp Minnie-Mickey, Indy Show (getting old, very fast). I guess another reason I don't have time to do everything is because usually my family and I go to Downtown Disney several times, play mini golf, and just hang out for an hour a day. But as I say, to each his own!

Meega, nala kwishta!
We usally skip most of MGM. Heck, I think when we last went in October, we saw the Indy show, muppets, and then left.

Now I would get on RnRC and Tower, but my wife will not, and I do the good husband deed and say ok...:( then beat my head against the wall when she's not looking. :brick: Another vacation and still no Tower....grrrr.
