What do the Fastpass time windows mean?

The FAQ section states the following:
  • The guest will select the park and the three preferred experiences. The system will then return up to 4 groups of availability from which to pick - early, mid day, late, or all day
I guess you don't have a specific time to pick from? What does mid-day mean or late mean? Does mid-day mean mid-afternoon or does it mean from 10am - 2pm or something like that? Or does it depend on what the specific park's hours are for that day?

They will give you 4 groups of availability and will take into account any dining reservations you have linked. You will then be able to individually adjust the times of the experiences that you chose. The times they give you will not overlap, so you will have (for example), rides at either 9,10,11 or 11,12,2 (with a 1PM lunch ADR), 3,4,5 and 7,8,9. Then you can go in and adjust any or all times.

FP+ reservations are still for 1-hour durations, just like with legacy FP. As NYwdwfan explained, the system just displays them in groups, using blocks of the day. Those are meaningless, except to assist in the initial planning.
