What do all the envelopes and colours mean to the side of each Topic, Thread etc...

Hi All,

I sometimes am a bit confused at what everything to the side of the threads and posts mean... For instance, what does an orange letter compared to a blue letter mean, opened and sealed letters if you get me?

And, an orange small display board by a thread or topic compared to a blue one.. the various arrows and everything else

Hope someone can explain further!

Thanks,
Tristan

If the envelope is open, the thread has new posts that you haven't read. If it's closed, you've read everything in the thread.

I can't entirely be sure about the colours, I'm colour-blind, but I'm thinking it's a coding of what permissions you have when posting in the thread/forum [certain forums won't allow images others will, same for html, etc, there's a box at the bottom of the page that indicates which are 'on' and which are 'off'].

Orange boards vs. blue boards shows forums that have un-read threads.

The arrow on a thread means you've replied to the thread. An arrow on a forum means it forwards you to a non-forum page [news or information that you can't reply to or comment on].
