Well, I hope JMarc doesn't mind, but I really liked his idea, so I'm creating this other thread. I suppose some of use may look back and think "Boy, what a first post that was... "

So what do you say we post our first posts? Here's mine:

I'm still kicking myself because of an Indy leather jacket, the snow globe with the castle, the water tower, the tree and Spaceship Earth, and that trivia board game.

Interesting thread. Mine goes back to July 25.

Can you also get a wheelchair from the resort where you are staying? My father will be joining us at EPCOT one day this fall and will need a wheelchair after having knee-replacement surgery. If we choose not to use the exit to get on a ride (I don't want to accused of taking advantage of the system and he probably will not want to do it either), can the chair go through a normal queue?

July 4th
Does anyone know what special events will be in the parks on July 4th, and which ones might be best to go to. I know they'll all be busy, but...

No-one even bothered to reply.

My first post was, of course, about Epcot... more specifically Spaceship Earth... naturally. The thread moved to what whould be done about Spaceship Earth.

"I agree wholeheartedly. Spaceship earth is my favorite ride at my favorite park and everytime I see the dioramma treatment at the end of the ride, I feel queasy.
If Epcot really is getting a lot of money to do some serious refurb, I would suggest taking a look at upgrading the ride after the scene with the american boy and the Japanese (I believe... she might be chinese) girl.

NO Problem , MKCustodial, good call. I had not thought of this question.

Boy, you really made me work on this one since It's been 6 months and 1100 or so posts ago. My first posting was a reply in the Monorail Expansion thread, or I should say one of the many threads that have come up. I dived right in after sitting on the sidelines for a few days on that topic which caused me to start posting in the first place. It was about the diffrent layout seniarios for the Monorail I had seen in diffrent places over the years, and what was really going on with the expansion

I was really into the forums right after I got back from the WDW College Program (summer 2000) but drifted away after a few months.

I rediscovered this site (and it's brand spanking new forums!) the next year. I was really bored during the week of July 4th (I was the only one in the office exempt from the forced vacation that week) and had nothing to entertain myself except for my trusty UltraSPARC workstation and a huge internet pipe. So I spent a lot of my time catching up on everything and resuming my attitude of monorail know-it-all-ism. I also discovered I had been involved in various kinds of strange drama while I was away.

My first post on the new forums

I had no idea, so I looked it up, and found this long-winded post:

I think Eisner has done a great job and should be thanked. At the same time I feel he has lost some of the energy he brought with him originally. I would love to see someone younger, more energetic and more daring come in and bring some life back to the company. I don't know if that person exists, and there is a risk in hiring someone who is daring but dares to do the wrong things.

It seems to me that Disney World (I have to admit that as an easterner I am Disney World Centric) has been somewhat stagnant since Animal Kingdom opened. When my son and I went in December, we had a hard time finding anything new.

I love disney, and I hate to sound at all negative. It's possible the Imagineers have something spectacular they're about to unveil, but if they don't, I'd like to see a CEO who won't sleep until he knows they do have it. I think about the stories of Walt preparing his original Disney Land presentation and I long for something as passionate and fresh.

I tend to read a lot more than post, but here's my first from a Which Guide Book thread in June:
I have Birnbaum's "Official Guide", Bob Sehlinger's "Unofficial Guide", Rita Aero's "Essential Guide", and the Fodor's WDW Guide. I'm kind of a vacation planning nut, in that I'll do whatever I can before the trip to avoid wasting ANY time on the trip.

My rankings are:

1. Sehlinger's Unofficial Guide. His book takes a methodical, thorough approach to WDW. I used his analysis to rank every attraction before going to WDW last year into three categories (Must See, Sounds Fun, Avoid). Among other pieces of information, he presents the Scariness Factors for each ride. This book is incredibly helpful in avoiding lines/wasted time.

2. Aero's Essential Guide. Of all of the guidebooks, this one has the best format. The indexing is excellent, the page layouts pleasing, and the maps outstanding. Good tips, as well.

3. Fodor's WDW Guide and Birnbaum's Official Guide. I find both of these books to be well below the standards set by the first two. These two are poorly formatted, loaded with spoilers, and lack the age-by-age ratings that the first two have.

I have not read the Passporter book, although I may have to now for comparison purposes ...
Which reminds me, I need to give my mom my Christmas list ...

I'm not sure if this is my first post.. but it's definitely one of the firsts. In this thread, WDWMagic greets the new defectors from Intercot (Me, Darrel, Dawn, other Dawn, and Dewey). As you will see, Darrel was already recruiting for his demonic doll legions... and me, I think Dan was trying to hit on me. :lookaroun

Maybe it's just the name... Adventureland that I like, because most of my favorite attractions are found in Tomorowland and Frontierland (by the way... they really could redo Tom Sawyer Island into something updated and fresh). I also feel that Woody's Roundup could make a very cool update to the shootin' Arcade. Anyway, my vote goes to Adventureland, plus they do have the Pirates... Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me. Based solely on rides it would be Tomorrowland (provided that CoP and TimeKeeper are included in the equation).

It's funny, cause the third question comes up so often, thank goodness my answer stays the same. :lookaroun The same question just came up in a new thread a couple days ago and I still said Adventureland. :)
