What are the Tables in Wonderland Events like?

We are going to purchase TiW for the first time. I'm curious about the invitation-only events. Is this something that is infrequent and therefore less likely to happen during the time you happen to book a trip? Or is there enough advance notice to book a trip?

What are the chances we purchase it on day one in the park, and get invited to something within a few days? (I'm asking mainly for budgeting purposes.)

And what do these events turn out to be? I haven't seen many threads on it, and they are all old.

Thanks in advance!

hey tonythetigger, there are really not that many invitation only events, maybe just a few every year, seems like no more than four or five if that. I would say its not a very high chance if you were to buy it and then get a member invite to an event but stranger things have happened. It sure would be a big coincidence if it timed that way. Depending on how local you are I think there would be enough notice of an upcoming event to book a trip, someone else correct me if Im wrong but I think they are announced maybe a month or so in advance. Have not taken part in any of them myself, but they seem to be at Jiko at AK Lodge and not so much in the parks. They normally seem to be pricey so we just never really thought they were worth doing but Im sure they are very nice, or ought to be for the money. There may be a couple of upcoming ones during the foodandwine festival. One time several years ago they did offer one inside the Great Movie Ride and I regret not going to that one. That would have been cool!

Thanks so much for the reply! That is pretty much what I figured it would be like. So I can put the budget towards other things LOL.

We are looking to add this to our Disney yearly collection we eat at Disney at least once a month for sit down and so far all of the places we have eaten at are on the list so for us it seems to make sense.

I think I get the emails about one a month. And it's not a short notice email, usually about a month or so in advance. Usually guest chefs or wine pairing type meals, with a price tag to match. Once in a blue moon they do events in park, unless its tied to F&W, then they seem to have a few.

It seems like they used to run these more frequently in the past than they do now. For a while, they seemed to be doing a dinner at the Wave about once a month & I thought the price was reasonable - around $110 per person, but they were always on a Thursday night. DH & I live in Gainesville about 2 hours away, so without taking time off work, these weren't doable for us. I did go to an event at the Disney Design Warehouse a few years ago that happened to be on a Saturday night. Price was $115 per person. This was an offsite event at the design warehouse that was in an industrial park near I-Drive. (http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2013/...display-warehouse-event-and-discovery-dinner/) The food was really good & it was interesting seeing the facility. There was a short pre-event session in the front offices with cocktails where you could poke through the offices. These are all highly themed areas. The actual event was in the warehouse & workshop itself. Lots of cool stuff to look at & interesting commentary. Well worth the time & money.

That sounds cool. We have some flexibility with a two or three day trip sometime between October and early November. So maybe we'll get lucky and plan our trip accordingly.

I would think the standard meals in the standard restaurants would be easy to pass on. But when they do an event, say, in the lobby of the American Adventure, or like the one they did in the Wizard of Oz section of the Great Movie Ride - those would be totally cool!

tables in wonderland is suppose to phase out by the end of the year, whether or not they stick to that plan I dont know, but there is a thread dedicated to it somewhere here.

Boo. LOL.

It figures - I finally find something that actually saves us money (unlike the DDP) and it goes bye-bye...
