What are the chances?

We want to rent DVC points for the first time. What are the chances of us getting a studio at Boardwalk (boardwalk view), Beach Club, or Wilderness Lodge for December 2014? We ant to go either 12/13 -12/20 or 12/17 -12/24. Both websites I checked have said it would be 107 points. Do people still have that many points?? Plus, when can I actually send in a request?

Thanks for any help.

Most DVC owners have 100-250 points, as that is what is roughly needed for a week vacation each year. Some will have less, and other much more, but I think thats a good rule of thumb.

Odds of getting the request are really hard to say. It depends on what owners put their points up at any given time. However, DVC owners tend to like to travel during seasons where they can maximize their points, so the early December time period tends to book up fast. Your best luck becomes if someone owns at one of those locations, and has already decided to rent out their points. If thats the case, the odds of you getting something at 11 months out is reasonable.

You can see David's suggesting booking windows here -> http://www.dvcrequest.com/how_soon_should_i_reserve.htm, but basically you would want to be reaching out to a broker within the next few weeks so they can try to line someone up for the 11 month window.

Getting the points is not a problem. Everones use year is different - Mine runs Feb to Feb, others run on different cycles. Somone will always have points available to rent.

The issue is getting the ROOM not the POINTS. That is a popular time, and you will have to pretty much book it at 11 months out. As dreafinder said, contact a broker now, and out should have a pretty good chance.

Beach club will be the hardest because of it being right next to Epcot and the fact that it is the smaller of the villas. But it's our favorite!! :) that's where we own. Just know what you want and book it as soon as you can.

To be honest, I think that the Wilderness Lodge would probably have the most available. It is a fantastic resort and the benefit is the boat ride to the Magic Kingdom. However, the Boardwalk and the Beach Club you are really buying for their locations. A walk into Epcot and Hollywood Studios is convenient and just amazing. The Beach Club can also get booked VERY quickly because of the Flower & Garden Fesitval and the Food and Wine Festival. So all three are great, but the Wilderness Lodge I find is less hectic to book into when you are trying to go on vacation. Good luck!
