I am thinking about doing Dinning Plan again because I don't think I want to eat Counter Service so much, however I was wondering what are the chances of getting into any sit down resturant without a reservation. The one thing I hated about the dinning plan was having to be on a schedule all the time.

Depends on what time of year, in june of 08 we were not able to walk into any ts rest. A couple of them had no seating available at all while most had waits around 90-120 mins. I just called and made 8 ts ressies for Jan 2nd-9th, so it seems like that time of year things might be easier to do.

Quick tip:

• Make all of your reservations ahead of time in order to guarantee a sit-down meal.
• Check for alternative availability each day at the park according to your mood for the day.
• Cancel your original reservation as a courtesy according to what you are able to arrange daily.

Sounds like you might have a conflict: Don't want to eat CS too much but also don't like having to be on a schedule.

We tried the Dining Plan last year. Won't use it again.
Seems like we always had to be somewhere at a certain time.
Also, for us compared to our normal eating pattern, it was too much food.

This time we are using CS plus an ADR or two for character buffets.

Very few restaurants will have any dinner options available for walk-up. Sometimes you can get a 9:00 or 9:30 PM seating, but not for the popular restaurants. Lunch is usually a good option for TS if you do not want to make ressies ahead of time. If you go the lunch route you definately do not want the DDP because the meals are less expensive and this will probably not save you money in the end.
