What’s the Standard? – Should there be a different standards of cleanliness?

Should there be a different standards of cleanliness?

  • Clean is clean. ALL areas should held to the highest standard.

  • Highly visible areas (i.e. Park Entrance) should be cleaner than lower visible areas.

  • Lower visible areas (i.e. TTC, Roadways) can slide a little.

  • There should be a double standard between highly and lower visible areas.

  • There is no double standard. Everything looks great.

Over the past few years my family and I have noticed that a double standard seems to be developing for the level of cleanliness (and maintenance) between areas in the parks and outside the parks. What do you think?

Disney was the cleanest park in the world a long time ago. There use to be CMs that were proud to be walking with a sweeper and dust pan. Now, CMs think it is below them. It is still a clean park, but no where near where it use to be. I was at Busch Gardens Williamsburgh this Summer. It is the #1 cleanest park in the nation. After being there, I have to agree it is cleaner than WDW.

Don't get me wrong, Disney is still clean. I think the problem really lies with the guests and not necessarily the CMs. Some people have no respect of others. They simply think with their Holier Than Thou attitude that everyone should serve them. Instead of walking 10 feet to the trash can, they just toss it on the ground because it is a CMs job to pick it up.

Your last point is really the key. While I am sure CMs could improve in this area. Guest are the ones who need to start picking up after themselves. Some people are simply disgusting. Sad really.

Yeah, all you have to do is look at all the litter on our roadways. It is like people just don't care. I was riding my motorcycle one day and stopped at a red light when someone in the left lane beside me tossed out a fast food bag full of wrappers and stuff. It landed on my foot. I reached down, picked it up and tossed it right back in their window. You should have seen the look on that woman's face. They started yelling, but with my full face helmet I have no idea what they were saying. The macho guy driving opened his door and started to get out when the light changed. I just waved and went on. I did see in the side view mirror that the woman passenger whose lap the trash landed in just tossed it back out as she was saying goodbye to me with a one finger wave. People...gotta love 'em.

If some men can't seem to spray in the right direction, there are some women who are just as bad. They are of the squat and spray persuasion. They don't want to sit so they squat over the toilet and let fly. It is now all over the toilet seat and sometimes on the floor. Let the next person beware!

A profound thanks to those who keep the restrooms clean.

I just always assumed women's restrooms were tidy clean and it was us messy men to be ashamed of.
Well, I clean the bathrooms in my house, and my bathroom is always the most clean (And the only bathroom that no man in this house uses), so yes it is men to a degree, but women can be pretty bad as well.

Recently, my school has been doing something really nasty and the ladies rooms. They leave the silver bins sitting uncovered on the floor in each stall. Absolutely disgusting. I wish they would put them back, covered, on the wall of the stall where they belong. I'm inclined to complain about it since everything else in our school is pristine.

As someone who has cleaned a few bathrooms and different establishments, it is the women who tend to be worse. The refusal to just sit on the toilet seat really does seem to be the biggest source of the problem. It's a self perpetuating cycle that only stops when things get bad, and boy can things get gross. :hungover:

Wow. That is quite a statement there. I don't believe it to be true. Did you just make that up or can you substantiate it? I see CMs constantly picking up, emptying trash cans. When I walk into parks in the morning they are clean. The restrooms are always tended to. If it isn't the CMs who is doing all the cleaning?
