It’s been a year since the new Guardians of the Galaxy thrill ride opened at Disney California Adventure, and – to the surprise of some – it’s become the most popular attraction at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.

This is perhaps unprecedented for a ride that began as a remake of an existing one, in a park that’s always played second fiddle in many people’s minds to its venerable sibling, Disneyland.

It may also be the first time that Disney took an attraction that was already popular – the iconic Twilight Zone Tower of Terror that has soared 17 stories over the park since 2004 – and chose to remake it, even though it was still drawing crowds every day.<<

I smell the Marketing B.S. a mile away, just pre Pixar Pier hype.

Any CM know the current guests per hour capacity?

I too would like to know this

I mean I know this means absolutely nothing, but taking a look at the app now, 4:41pm AZ time 5/25:
MB is at a 35 minute wait, RSR is at 90 minutes, Hyperspace is at 45.

All things considered, didn't ToT have the same wait times as M:B? With roughly the same ride time and capacity - wouldn't that make ToT the most popular attraction in the parks? I call shenanigans.

Read the article, not sure how they came to the conclusion that it’s the most popular ride at the park. Also not sure if I believe the story that this was Rhodes idea. If I had Twitter I would thank him for these new ultra immersive screens. They re so much much better than those 3D sets that actually made you feel like you re somewhere instead of watching TV. Actually, on second thought I might create a Twitter just to do this.

You do? I can understand the skepticism considering how controversial the makeover was among fans, but in the wake of the news that DCA had a 3% attendance bump in 2017, and a year of above average waits for the MB, I don't see any reason to question Disney's claims.

Obviously people here haven’t read the article.

“Today, park officials say that Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! is the favorite of the millions of people who visit the Disneyland resort every year.”

Then it says “Themed Entertainment Association, which gave the revamped ride a major award this year, reported that 9.6 million people visited Disney’s California Adventure in 2017. It’s safe to say that many of them rode Guardians.”

So it’s the increase in attendance.

“I’ve been on the ride at least 20 times,” the annual passholder said. “I liked the Tower of Terror, but this one is bettter. There’s more interaction and better music. It’s hilarious.”

Repeat visitors obviously.

“This expertly crafted attraction has won over even the most skeptical fans,” reported the committee that chose Guardians as its 2018 winner for outstanding achievement in “Attraction Reimagining.”

People using objective standards think it’s quite a good attraction.

Pixar Pier will get a similar response.

Yes, absolutely, and confirmed by the article.
