I'm a college program alumni who moved to Orlando. I went to casting and was told I was on restricted rehire status and can't be hired until I've had a steady job for six months. However I'm still eligible to do the college program or summer alumni program! That makes no sense at all! They won't hire me but I can do another CP? Ugh. I'd be willing to except I have a lease and everything down here already. Would they allow me to skip out on the housing portion? I knew a girl on my CP who went to UCF and was allowed to stay in her dorm and not pay for Disney housing. But I'm not in a dorm I have my own apartment so do you think they'd let me do the same?

It wouldn't hurt to ask. I know a girl I worked with didn't live in Disney housing but she was married. I think a guy I worked with moved out of housing when he extended.

I remember reading somewhere that housing was optional if you live close enought to drive to work everyday. Hope it all works out!

If you are going back to the same area, area managers can get the restricted rehire status off.... I went back last Monday was told the same thing by casting, called my manager and he called like a bijillion people but I was seasonal and working after two days and background check.

^That's a good idea, I'm going to see if I can try that. The only problem is I was entertainment and had very little interaction with any managers. I don't think a single one of my managers would recognize my name or even know who I was if they saw me on the street. I'm going to casting Monday to see what's up.

When I was in Disney doing a CP in 2007, my best friend down there lived in a condo instead of the CP apartments...and she had no special circumstances or anything. I think you just have to talk to them about it.
