I like Depp, but no one can top Wilder's performance as Wonka. I hope Burton doesn't ruin it like he ruined Batman when he couldn't keep Keaton.

I'm hoping that Depp's portrayal will be a little darker than Wilder's. It really is a dark story (even though it was written by a children's author).

aw, now...you're going into it with expectations! just think of Burton's Willy Wonka as a completely different story; just with similarities with the musical/Wilder version. maybe that'll help. cause if you go into it expecting a copy of the Wilder version, you'll probably come out disappointed.



and, i agree JBSLJames....hopefully Gene will be in it somewhere! that'd be great if Burton threw him in there as a suprise...even as a cameo!
