Former President Barack Obama will make a rare campaign stop when he speaks in Orange County Saturday at a rally to help Democrats trying to win GOP-held House seats in Southern California.

Officials said the event will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center, Ballroom E, and that doors will open at 10 a.m. Tickets will be required for entry and are available through some local Democratic groups and congressional campaigns.<<

He still keeps the title even if he isn't in office anymore and referred to as either former President Obama in a formal setting or just President Obama in a non-formal setting. This has been true of all former Presidents.
Presidential and White House amateur scholar here. There is actually no official protocol for former presidents. Typically if they write something like an op ed the byline will say "Barack Obama is (or was) the 44th President of the United States." As a courtesy, they are still addressed as "Mr. President", although personally I would prefer that form of address for the sitting POTUS (in addition to "The President") and address them as President Obama, President Bush, etc.). For example, Queen Elizabeth II is simply The Queen and her late mother in her widowhood was Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother officially and simply Queen Elizabeth internally.

IIRC, the only office in the US for which the title continues into retirement is judges. For all others, it is a courtesy.

Basically from what I understand, while not official its basically for respect and courtesy (something much of our country has lost). Its like former military officers, they still are called by their highest rank even if they are discharged and retired. Since the POTUS is the commander and chief the same respect and courtesy is extended. So its an unwritten official/unofficial rule on etiquette for heads of state.

Former Ambassadors, members of Congress, etc, are also extended this same courtesy.

I don't believe that Disneyland would have escorted him out if the park for smoking a cigarette on an open air skyway cable car during the 1970s or 1980s.

I believe that Disneyland even had a tabacco shop back then and smoking was not a problem in public requiring a safe space and huggy blankie for refuge. You could smoke in restaurants, on airplanes and on tv shows.

I think his cigarette might of been a different type of cigarette as his smirk and eyes impLIEd.

I'm a non-smoker by the way.

Was smoking allowed on attractions though? The Skyway was an attraction, so even though open aired, wouldn't it have the same rules as any other attraction like PotC or Matterhorn? So I can see it being true.

Who would one know? There were not cameras in cabs. The skyway was one place to escape for debocery, sex, drugs, daredevil stunts and yelling and spitting on people below.

Sorry. It's a hard fact pal.

It wasn't an attraction in a building with smoke alarms. It was in the sky where air rises.

It's probably a lie I'm guessing.
