We currently have reservations for November 16th-23rd, checking out the day before thanksgiving. How bad will the crowds be? We are trying to decide if we want to change the date and take our child out of school in Januart to avoid the crowds. Help!

The crowds shouldn't be too heavy during that time. We usually go to the world Thanksgiving week and the crowds start to get heavy from Thanksgiving and after, but before is usually pretty good.

It's going to depend on the kind of weather you get. I was there last year at that exact same time, checking out the day before Thanksgiving. The first few days were good, not too crowded but then it started to get pretty crowded as the week progressed. We'd had amazing weather. High 80s, sun, low humidity and not a drop of rain. MK was only supposed to be open until 10pm Friday and Saturday and 7pm the other nights but because of the numbers of people they kept it open until midnight every night. We went from 20 min wait times for rides to 45-60 minute wait times. Other than the longer wait times it was our best trip to date, not just because of the fantastic weather but because they were in the process of decorating everything. We stayed at WL, which was already decorated when we arrived and the parks were in the process of being decorated. On the Saturday we were at MK, it wasn't decorated but when we walked through the front gates of MK on the following Tuesday, there was a massive tree at the end of Main Street and they had the garlands spanning the street.

If you are leaving before Thanksgiving the crowds should be fine. If you extend your trip to cover the following weekend the crowds can become insane.
