Week of 5/1 Hotels Sold Out?

What is going on the week of 5/1? We are arriving on the 27th of april and staying through the 7th of May and tried to switch our room from POP to a moderate and was told that they were sold out. Is there anything happening causing this to happen this particular week?

Never mind looks like the Cheerleading and Dancing competition is in town. Im so disappointed in myself for now researching that before I paid for it. So yeah... this should be great, at least its not the Brazilian tour groups.
