My sister (CowGirlJessie) has put way tooo many ideas into my head. Including my wedding ceremony....

Can anyone give me a really deatiled list or info on the disney weddings packages? I looked at the webisght, and I ordered more info, but I am still really unsure about the prices.I have a feeling that I will get anything I want from daddy, assuming I help out in the paying of it.

I know a lot of my family cannot attend, though I do know my wedding party will have no trouble affording it. Who would I envite? what is a good number? If you didn't envite a big amount of people, did you have a second reception at home? so that everyone else could celebrate with you?

any info at all would be great. if you do not want to post it, please email me!!! srrhodes@uiuc.edu

thank you so much!!

and any ideas on where to get married or have a reception (witha good reason) would be really helpful as well!!

(This is a quick reply, I'll try to give a more detailed response [or get my wife to give one] soon):

We were wed in 2000. The prices were all included in our original packet from the Fairy Tale Wedding group [the name of the group escapes me].

It is very easy to spend from $4000 to $50000+ depending upon your wedding location (don't have to be at the Wedding Pavilion), reception, amenities, and extras.

We went through three coodinators because of staff turnover [I assume that they didn't hate us and just passed us off]. We had very few problems and had a really great time. It was wonderful having the coordinators do so much for us. Since we live in Massachusetts, we could not do any on-site planning.

We ended up having an "intimate" wedding with about 18 people (this number of people is now too many for an intimate wedding) at Point Breeze near Boardwalk. We had our reception for these people and their children at the Attic in Boardwalk. Both easily met our expectations.

We had a gathering at home for anyone who could not attend. We timed this gathering so that we could show our newly-received wedding video.

I'll try to write more later. My son calls for our night-time ritual.

My husband is an idiot. We were married in 1999.

You may have no more than ten people, including bride and groom, in an intimate wedding.
The package will tell you everything.

If you go for an intimate wedding, you will have to do your own booking of a hall for a reception.
You won't be able to book a "restaurant" proper, because there is no real "reservation" service in DisneyWorld. They use "priority seating".
The Attic is usual used by conventioneers; we had to book for (and pay for) 25 people. Not horribly expensive, in all reality.

If you want to cut costs, do not use a Disney Photographer. They send you a list of alternatives; and you can search the Web for others.
We used K&K (from Disney's alternatives list). They were very nicely priced. We loved them. They weren't obtrusive during the wedding or reception.
They supply both photography and videography services. We loved them.

We sent my husband's measurements to Carolyn Allen's Bridan And Tuxedo (also recommended by Disney). His tux fit correctly when we arrived.

Drawbacks:

Musical choices are very limited. If you don't go with some "standard" pieces, the musicians probably won't know them. We sent our music requests months in advance. On our wedding day, the violinist asked my husband to hum some of the tunes 15 minutes before the wedding was supposed to begin!

The Mears limo [Disney-hired] people are touchy about the bride and groom leaving the reception when expected. We were about 20 minutes late leaving our reception and were told that the limo was about to leave without us!

Good luck and congratulations!

The White Doves are history.

At the WDW wedding pavilion, they used to release white doves (actually pigeons) at the end of the ceremony. It was very romantic. They also did the same thing at the Beauty and the Beast show at MGM. Unfortunately, red tailed hawks have been killing off the pigeons in flight, so WDW has stopped the bird releases.
