Weather this year to last

How is the weather this month compared to how it was last August 2003? I know it rains every afternoon but last year it rained for hours at a time instead of just a few minutes.

I was there last year in July and it poured all day for 4 of the 8 days I was there. 2 other days we had the "usual afternoon thunderstrom" that came and went in a half-hour. By poured all day, I mean it was dark and cloudy when I woke up, began raining around 10:00 am and continued through until about 9:00 pm.
