Hi everyone!

Like I stated in previous post just got back but already planning next trip. How is the weather in January? My son will be in 1st grade and has a week in January when his school does mostly assemblies and fun activities so I thought this would be a good time to take him out. Any info is appreciated-Thanks!:)

It really depends on weather patters at the time. One day it can be hot...the next very cold. It can also be nice during the day then cooler at night. It is a very hard to decide what to pack that time of year. I recommmend carrying sweatshirts with you to the park.

Ditto what DisneyInsider said. We were there right after Christmas in 2000. The first day was wonderful and warm (but not hot.) Day 2 it rained, but not really cold. Days 3 and 4 were cold---I had on a coat, gloves and my pooh ear-muffs, and was still cold. I wouldn't plan on riding too many of the water rides at that time of year! :animwink:
However, you could hit a warm spot---you just never know!

Hope that it works out!

We went this past New Year's. Like everyone else has said, it depends on the weather patterns at that time. We experienced warm days and cold days. You should be prepared for both. Here were the temps during our stay:

Date.............Hi Temp...Lo Temp
12/28/2001......68...........43
12/29/2001......75...........57
12/30/2001......70...........54
12/31/2001......63...........54
01/01/2002......64...........45
01/02/2002......61...........52
01/03/2002......55...........37
01/04/2002......49...........32
01/05/2002......64...........36
01/06/2002......70...........52

I don't like WDW in January because it is colder, at least one water park is closed, and many more rides are closed. If you could I would go between March and April. I try to go either then or September to Nov.

Like so many of us, you can't easily change your dates to go, so you need to make the best of it and be smart.

Check the weather obsessively before you go. There are the obvious weather sites, and I like the Orlando Sentinel web page. (You can also check the local news)
http://orlandosentinel.com

(that was a hard one, wasn't it??)

That time of year anything can happen. Be prepared. You will be coming from winter coat land, and don't be surprised if you need it in Fla. (we did Jan 2002)

You will love the lack of crowds--that more than makes up for not being able to do water activities

As a general rule for the January weather in Orlando, you can expect daytime highs to reach into the upper 60's, and nighttime lows to drop as low as the 30's. Also watch out for moderate wind basically from dusk until dawn, especially around the water. The good thing is that this is a relatively dry time in the atmosphere, so you should expect lots of sunshine and very little rain (monthly rain average is only 2.3").
