Can we go yet?

With Oz coming out soon, do you think Universal will finally make that Wicked film adaption in response? If they do, I hope they get great singers, not so much like Les Miserables.

Not for years. Nothing in the works, nothing under contract or development. While Wicked is raking in millions weekly on Broadway and on the road, there won't be any movie version appearing.

For WIcked, no matter what the Oz movie does, they are currently running at 102% capacity every week on Broadway and that hasn't stopped in ten years, and 100% capacity for every single night in every city it is on tour -- they have no interest in doing a movie at this point in time.

Starting Development means its a good 3-4 years out. I saw that at Broadwayworld and Playbill back in December, but nothing has been put on the fast track and no development team has been identified. Its currently not being rushed into production.

Aside from "Popular", I didn't think the Wicked songs were that great. It had some good scenes, one in particular, IMO, but I don't think it would be a great movie. Maybe I'm wrong.

I never really understood why this was as popular as it was. Maybe the tie to Wizard of Oz? I just don't know.

All the Wicked fans can now beat me with clubs and tell me how big a moron I am for not loving it, lol. :)

You and the critics -- personally, I love it, have seen it numerous times, and its not a score I love either (in fact, I can't stand "Popular" and when I direct a show, I do not permit any auditioner to sing it, its so specific to one character in one show)...but the entire show, sets, special effects and everything else add together to a really entertaining night across all gender and age ranges, and why it sells out every single performance on Broadway and on tour, even in towns its played three or four times now...it will be wildly popular once the movie comes out.
