We Finally Took The Plunge!

My wife and I scheduled our September trip at Disney World to stay at the Contemporary. We have stayed at a Value Resort for the last 5 years - although we like them, we wanted to spoil ourselves this year.

We are so excited. Anyone have any tips or information about the Contemporary that might help our stay more pleasurable? (Not that it won't be anyway)

Where are you staying in the Contemporary? If in the South Garden Wing and you don’t mind a little bit of a walk ask for a room at the end of the wing facing the Lake. The views are great and there is little noise.
If you budget allows eat at the California Grill and watch Wishes from the room of the hotel. Eat at Chef Mickey’s or the Contempo Café and watch the monorails coming and going. Watch the electric water pageant from the shore of bay lake.
Again, if walking isn’t a problem you can walk to the Magic Kingdom. We have stayed in the Contemporary twice and each time DS wanted to experience difference methods of transportation to the Magic Kingdom so we walked, took the boat and arrived via monorail.
Enjoy

You'll love the Contemporary! We were there this past September, and had a wonderful experience.
As zurgandfriend said, definitely try the water launch to MK and walking over to MK. It's fun to be so close you can walk. Also, the water pageant is great -- don't miss that, and Cali Grill has wonderful food.
I'd also recommend taking some time to ride the monorail around to the other monorail resorts and just check them out. They're all amazing.
Finally, the water launch that comes to Contemp. also goes over to the Wilderness Lodge. You might want to ride the launch over and have a meal at the WL. It's a lovely ride and the WL is also a nice resort.

Have a great time!

Use the walkway to the Magic Kingdom! It looks farther than it is, it is only about a 5-7 minute walk, and you'll pass by all the people waiting in the monorail line at the end of the night, especially if you leave right at closing time.
